I only caught the last 15 minutes of the game, so I can't really say too much. But I wouldn't be reading too much into this game. I just don't think the boys were as interested. There wasn't really anything to play for. Interupting your preseason training to fly to the other side of the world, play one meaningless game and fly home; it'd be hard to be at your best.

I thought Fai was outstanding in his short stint. Herman, Joe, Arrow etc are all good, but Fai has the makings of something pretty special.... I know other clubs are circling.

Yeah i think he went well , i thought joe went well in his 2nd stint . I think sammy was talking fai up as well, hopefully we lock him up.

Scarlett dodged a couple of charged downs last night... Mind you Blair and Sims had Wynnum on the back foot drawing defense in leaving the outside backs with all to do.
I've seen Wynnum beat a team with EseEse, Offa and TPJ so not overly surprised - just disappointed. (Seve too - but Seve was actually good last night). I rate TPJ but the others have some work to do.
Roberts is great in attack and terrible in defense - kind of like Copley but at least Copley tried in defence and could actually put a big hit on. Copley might be slower but he is smarter and plays smarter.
Arrow seemed to have a good start but there wasn't much to be excited about.

Edit: I should point out I'm usually a Hunt defender and still am but need to have a little dig.

This might sound crazy but I am putting this down to a conspiracy. That refereeing was too bad to not be intentional. Australians have been questioning whether it's worth going overseas and playing games in England, it does nothing for us but we do it to help them. We keep going over there and flogging them and for what? So the super league have decided to make the games seem closer so they don't look like a waste of time.

The wolves were back 7 metres all night and were given more leeway in the ruck than fat Sam Kasiano. The Broncos haven't been allowed a quick play the ball in years and this morning was no different. Mike Cooper threw blatant punches with no consequences and you see yellow cards for punches all the time. That scrum penalty? If the half sits there for 20 seconds doing nothing a scrum is bound to break down.

A few Broncos players need to start round 1 in Q cup. They all need to be in the same team though. Mead, Milford, Hunt, McGuire, ofa, Ese'ese and Roberts don't deserve locked in spots this year at all and if we lose round 1 but send a lesson to our team that they need to step up then so be it.

The whole hunt bashing crap has me embarrassed to be a Broncos fan. No way in hell was Milford better this morning. Milford did nothing except offload a ball to Oates and was invisible apart from his kicks that went dead. He doesn't deserve the free pass he gets because he killed it for half of last season, then disappeared. Warrington were well offside for both of Hunts kicks that were charged down.

Boyd was quiet but I think he was trying to get a feel for everything again. He will come good. Mead, lol. A few guys on here had me expecting more. Oates didn't seem to make as many metres after contact. Would be hard when the opposition were 7m back. Kahu is a winger. Average is the only word that can describe his form over the last year. His kicking looks good though. Roberts is an idiot. He can't tackle and leaves too big of a gap in our defensive line. Is it worth it for his speed that he shows off every third game? I don't think so.

Ofa and Ese'ese had no impact. Would have been a different game with Blair and Sims. I don't think either did enough to earn a spot in the 17. McCullough was our best player by a long way. Defended well, ran well, kicked well. He needs to be more involved with our kicking this year.

Gillett and Thaiday played well. Thaiday was our only starting forward that looked like he wanted to run hard and Gillett is a monster in defence. McGuire is a prop. Doesn't have the skills to be a lock.

TPJ and Fai looked like they wanted to be out there. They definitely played better than the starting props. TPJ is going to be a beast. Glenn was good, definitely made an impact. I'd give him the lock spot to start the season. Arrow was also good, I'd like to see more of his running game though. Looks like he has the skill set to play lock eventually.

Full credit to Warrington, they out-enthused the Broncos from the get-go and were clearly the better side.

Brisbane gave themselves a crack but it was the two kicks from Ben Hunt that ultimately hurt them. The first led to the opening try, the other completely changed the momentum of the half. It wasn't his greatest performance but it would be unfair to blame him for the result. Fact of the matter is there were a lot of poor performances out there and there will be a lot of players looking to make amends in Round 1.

Not a whole lot to write home about for the Broncos, but if there was one positive, I thought the bench showed some good signs. Glenn bolstered the ruck, Pangai Jr troubled the defenders with his foot-work, Arrow was solid as ever and Fai showed good enthusiasm. On a night where not a lot went right for the visitors, they were a positive for the Broncos.

Never the less, we're only 11 days away from the start of the season. The boys have been brought back down to earth and will need a big effort against Cronulla.

I agree there are a few players who need to improve. McGuire at lock is a work in progress, our defense, Boyd looked like he was trying to leadfrom the front instead of playing his natural game, but the thing that stood out for me was Hunt. It's very rare for someone in Hunt's position to fire for the club they are leaving. I honestly think it best for the club and especially Hunt to let him leave now. It gives us a little bit of time to see if any of our current crop have what it takes and to have Milford gel with a new half now and not mid season, because I think by mid season Hunt will be gone, either dropped or out the door.

If the opposition defense is rushing up on us this season we are screwed. We have zero response for that.
They won't be able to be that offside with that 10 metre line they are implimenting.

Sam Thaiday was average. I still think he should be on the bench. Alex Glenn should start the game. When he came from bench the ruck get control by Broncos. I am disappointed with Robert, ben hunt and Milford. I think biggest worry is leadership. No player put their hand as a leader. Maguire has bad game too. This game his first hit up as lock.

We are really going to miss those Parker offloads with McGuire at lock.

Part of the problem was Broncos not being able to adapt.

Warrington very rarely played the ball correctly and as a result they were able to get a roll on.

Broncos just wouldn't do that and the rushing defence made it too difficult.

It's been a problem for the Broncos. They play too much within the rules while the other teams don't and benefit from it.

I wish I paid more attention to FAI. Sounds like he went well for his short stint. Wayne might be introducing him slowly like he did TPJ last year.

I kept waiting for Wally to point out Blair and Sims played for Wynnum. We deserve criticism though.

i agree mate, fai has the goods for sure..
he is a different shape and will only get better with time.
i reckon he will end up elsewhere, he is on peanuts at present which is a shame cause the club has paid overs for others who have been brought in in front of him.

on a side note, macca is a toiler and tries hard but its the same old story!!! no zip or creativity out of dummy half. the premiership sides need to have that!

The biggest problem with Broncos is not able to play the quick ball. Not only in this game but last season games too. They need to fix this thing.

Apart from Granville, which premiership team has had a zippy hooker?
