From LU.

This doesn't make any sense.
It's hard to have a good sample size. What are the options? Roberts, Clinton, Lowrie, Lazarus, Johns, Matterson, DeVere, Priddis, Wallace, Mundine, Ennis, Garbutt, Learoyd-Lahrs and Robbie Ross. Am I missing anyone? 9/14 isn't too bad.

I am ok with this for now. I don't want him playing in the halves or fullback though. Hopefully he is playing centre and will have to earn his five-eight spot. Show him some Hodges highlight and show him it's possible for a centre to get more involved in the game.

Bird needs to be shown how to get involved in the game?

He is always involved

Walters, Folau, Milford, Blair just to name a few of the more high-profile ones

Oh shut up. He wants to be more involved, hence the intent to play fullback or in the halves. So if they show him he can be more involved whilst playing in the centres then I imagine he would be fine coming to us to play that position.

Yawn.... I broke this news on here on Saturday which is the day he signed the contract. The moment Bennett contacted him, he was in as he greatly admires the man. All that was needed was a contract which is now in place. Excellent signing, possibly the best recruitment in Bronco history.

The brick with eyes is hands down our best recruit ever. Going to take something special to top that

Apparently we were offering Bird 350k more than what the Sharks offered?

So about 400k... That's the best they could come up with?

As I read it is 300 k over 3 years - that's like 100 k a year....pretty piss weak from the sharks if they wanted to keep him...

100k you match for a player of his calibre. I'm pretty sure we would have done the exact same with Hunt if we were anywhere near the dragons offer to begin with

WB has seen all this before.

I think he sees this as no different to the same positional headaches we had with Anthony Mundine etc in 1997.

Where do you play TC, Smith, Mundine, Kevvie, Locky, Plath, Phil Lee, Peter Ryan. Are they centres, spines, backrowers? No one fucking knew.

And, to this day, no one fucking knows what Mundine did.

For the young-uns who can't remember 1997 - a refresher -> a Premiership, and arguably our greatest ever side on paper, even if that side was never really tested. The whole year we had no idea who should really play where.

And it was fucking magnificent.

thats an enormous call. time will tell if he was better than the signing of the brick, tallis, and for arguement sake the resigning of boyd back to the club.
lets hope this bloke isnt another mundine

lets not go overboard here.

Quality player and i'm always happy for the club to sign quality players. i just hope Bennett didn't promise him any specific position (It's not like him to do that). and Bird is happy to play where the team needs him ... even if that means center
He'll be in the halves. They didn't sign him up to play lock and make 50 tackles (despite media reports) a game. He and Milf will make an excellent combo despite all the concern shown on here.

I agree, Lazo will be hard to top. I am getting a little carried away but I am very pleased with this acquisition.

Will be interesting to see if the Sharks go hard after Roberts as their replacement centre now that we have pinched bird.
