Could be a good opportunity for the Walker Brothers to get an NRL gig
Never happen. Not a club in the NRL that can afford their fines for persistent on field bullshit they carry on with.

The fact that Maguire is indeed our best option just shows how shitty the coaching pool is. And the fact that the coach often isn't the decisive factor - you're more likely to win it through illegal tactics (either on or off the field), or because of, essentially, politics (fairytales = good for the game).

So yeah, I'm also on the Maguire train, but I'm refusing to toot.

I find it interesting Neil Henry hasn’t got a mention by any news outlets or internet experts.

He may not be the best coach, but he’s far from the worst.

Apologies, talking post premiership of course - thought that would have been obvious.
How is that obvious though??

Siebold is in his first year where he took them to a prelim... Maguire did the exact same thing in his first year. He also turned them into perennial heavyweights until they won it in 2014.

FWIW I'm not sure I buy into the burn out rubbish. I think they just had a premiership hangover after 2014. It's not like they were burnt out between 2012-2014.

Also from reports it seems the burn out was primarily affecting George and Tom. The two guys who were entertaining ideas of shifting to the NFL after the GF. I'd say rather than burn out it is more likely their egos were inflated and their heads were elsewhere. These two guys were the cornerstone of their success in 2014 and were again a huge reason they did anything this year.

They've now knuckled back down after losing their test jerseys and spending periods back in reserve grade... supposedly because of a new training regime.

For Maguire to be successful I think he needs a team with a strong leadership group... one that will reinforce the coach's ideals and drag the rest of the playing group with them.

Look at Bellamy have the storm ever complained about burnout despite being flogged every preseason for the last 15 years or so... no because there leadership group is ruthless and constantly seeking success. If you don't buy in then get out. Bellamy now demands respect from the playing group and the hard working ethic is now ingrained into the culture down there.

Do the broncos have the right leaders to drag the playing group into line, because Madge is a similar coach to Bellamy, so he will need commitment from the playing group to be successful. He lost that commitment from the Souths playing group after they won it in 2014, they weren't ruthless in wanting continued success and instead were happy to rest after their success... they'd effectively done their job in winning Souths a comp.

I'd say Madge would be ideal for the tigers at the moment given the commitment to defense they showed last year, decent leadership group wanting to go out in style (politics is dead for Benji and Farah now and they lost) and a club that is yearning for sustained success.

Their playing group is young enough that his ideals could be ingrained into the culture with little fight back from the players given they already respect Benji and Farah.
