Yep. Bennett has shamed himself here and for mine has showed a lot of what his detractors have said over the years to be true. He has lost me.

They all did it, stop pointing fingers and have a good look. Everyone was involved and played games , seibold apologized for it and the clubs definitely were working behind the scenes for what they wanted. How is it only Bennett's fault, they all did what they needed to do to get what they wanted. No one should be singled out.

I think you missed the point. There is hypocrisy there in the club actively looking to move Wayne on, and then showing concern for the fact that Wayne was making plans in case that outcome did come to fruition.
I tend to disagree with you a lot but here, in this moment I totally agree. It seems the Bronco's wanted it both ways saying, WB you are not wanted in 2020 and in 2019 and be advised we are making plans for next year that don't include you, feel free to **** off and do whatever you'd like. When he does, he's a ****. I think WB might have to accept a very very small part of the whole blame but I think most should fall on the Bronco's board who initiated the whole mess.

They decided, as is their right on a new direction for 2020 and set the stage by jumping way way to early to sign someone. Like they simply HAD TO KNOW it would lead to instability and hobble a coach with one and a half years to run on his contract. They could have spoken with AS, agreed about 2020 and kept silent saying we'll announce our new coach toward the end of 2019. Sure there would have been speculation and that'd been okay too as it would be situation normal for the Bronco's (always some news happening)

I don't think people (reasonable people at least) are singling Bennett out, are annoyed at Bennett for simply acting like this or are blaming him solely and excusing all other parties for their roles in it.

I think people are annoyed at his apparent hypocrisy and how such behaviour goes strictly against what Bennett has preached his entire career.

For mine at least, that's the difference, and I can totally understand people being upset about that. If you've been a passionate supporter of someone for 30 years or more, only to find out that perhaps they aren't everything you thought they were, it could most certainly be very deflating. I expect it would make you question everything you've ever believed about them. I guess that's why people say it's seldom good to meet your heroes, as more often than not, you'll be disappointed.

Conversely, Bennett has to do what he thinks is right for him - I understand that. I also understand he hasn't committed any heinous crimes, so he's hardly the devil. But he hasn't exactly been the moral compass lots of people think he is, a view I would imagine has been cultured over the span of time lots of fans have spent supporting him and rallying around him.

Perfect summary of how I feel about the situation. I have defended bennett for 30 years to sydney fans, and I still think he is the greatest coach of all time and does more good for the game internationaly then anyone else has in the past 30+ years, and I still think he is an admirable person BUT Im a broncos fan first and foremost above being a bennett fan and the way he has acted towards the club has been unforgiveable in my eyes.

So Bennett said at the Rabbitohs press conference he was happy the Broncos sacked him.

But I don't think that is the case at all. Of course we do not know what goes on behind the scenes, but you can put things together to see if they make sense or not. They had agreed to the fact that he would be here in 2019 (it makes a lot of financial sense for them to keep him for 2019), but he keeps talking to Souths and essentially coaching them while apparently being committed to us. The ball was in his court and he was playing both sides.

This.

Bennett's own words his first press conference at Souths, he was happy he got fired. Then he got exactly what he wanted and deserved. Time to move on and get behind Seibold and the Broncos.

I didn't read that. I read that he knew it was happening, and that he was happy the drama was over. All other discussions around that could be discussed later, and he's just excited to be starting for Souths.

Everyone was playing both sides. If everything else that has come out is true, then it was seemingly widely known that the Broncos and Rabbitohs were working together to facilitate an immediate swap. It would appear that while they were publicly saying that they were happy for Wayne to stay on for 2019, they were privately working on ways to get him out. When it became clear he would not move of his own accord, even when presented with a deal of sorts, they resorted to sacking him.

Like I mentioned earlier, the only one who was drilled constantly by the media was Wayne. We'll never know whether the other parties involved would have stuck to the official line like Wayne did, or conceded the truth as people seem to be expecting.

“I was happy to be sacked,” he said with a smile. “I’ll just leave it at that, I was happy.”

TBH my opinion hasn't changed much of WB. WB went out his way, which has always been his thing. The carry on between the board and him isn't really any of my concern, lots of news columns to fill however.

He's still the guy that made us what we are, even though we've both lost some of our shine in recent times.

I don't really care that he's a hypocrite, every single member of this forum is a hypocrite in some capacity so let us not be too pious.

Not sure Seibold is the right guy but I'm glad the transition from Bennett has been made and we can focus on the future.

Bennett wants to coach until he carks it imo and he was never going to leave the Broncos coaching position without being pushed (regardless of how mediocre the results were) - whether it was now or sometime in the future. Relieved it's all over.

I'm not sure Seibold is the guy either, but I'm willing to give the bloke the opportunity to prove himself and given the shit all us fans have been dragged through this saga. I'm just glad that now we have a conclusion(definitely not the optimal we could have had but non the less better then one that kept dragging on well into next year, that would have been a real disaster and I think we may have been looking down the barrel of a 1999 start) to it. The club at all levels has a massive task ahead of itself.

Not to mention there is still uncertainty around critical players who are not contracted for next season at this point of time.
