Unless a miracle happens I think Boyd will retire at the end of this year. The Broncs will negotiate a nice deal for him but he will be tapped on the shoulder.
With his cash we need to identify a leader and go all out to get him. This side needs an alpha.

I'll know my song well before I start singing....(pick the reference?)

Forced to retire??.......is that code for no **** wanted him because he was shit?

Nah, his body was wrecked from footy. He had no acl in one knee after a failed reconstruction operation and god knows what else was starting to fall apart. I don't think he was ever the greatest halfback going round but there are few who played tougher than old Wal. Vale.

Pretty sure he still counts towards the cap unless he has a career ending injury.

Why would the Broncos let him keep sucking up 800k of our cap and getting no return?.
I think he will get the chat and retire.

We can chat to him all we want, but if he has a contract there's nothing we can do to force him to retire. Assuming there is no option in our favour. If there is, it's a bit of a moot point because we wont have to have the chat.

What was with the Watmough thing then? From memory only reason he didn't count towards their cap was because injury forced him to retire.

Ponga. I don’t care how much they pay to get him in, this kid has it all, he’s an absolute freak and if the Broncs aim to get out of the current mediocrity and add THE brightest star in the league, they become heavyweights again. Lose a forward or two, cut some deadwood or whatever and it will be worth it to get this kid. He should be the number one target.

I'd be pumped but that's a few years away from being a possibility. No way the Knights let him go, he's on massive unders at the moment and should only improve.

We won't ever "nail" a premiership while McCullough is in the team.....E.V.E.R.

We had a chance to win a comp without Macca in 2017 with the very man you lamented should have been our Hooker all along in Ben Hunt, and we finished the season with a 30-0 loss in Melbourne.

Now, I’m not saying having Macca wiuld have changed the result, but even the man you wanted couldn’t deliver us the premiership.

I'm not sure the Knights could keep him. Plenty of clubs will be offering huge money at this kid. I would not be surprised if he signs the biggest contract in the NRL. Personally I hope we offer a competitive contract and some lucrative TPA's to sweeten the deal.

I just meant more they wont release him early so we're going to have to wait until the 2022 season to have a crack at him. I imagine you're right and we will look at putting a package together for him at that time.

Yes, at the same time Boyd’s ridiculous contract finishes. Use his money and a TPJ’s (whoever that may be at the time) if you have to because this kid is the next big thing and he should be playing for a glamour club.

Everyone will want him, let’s get the Broncs to show they are back as the big fish of the comp since Cam Smith will probably still be playing then as well and the Broncs can finally rival Melbourne and Sydney as they should now.

He's got pretty sweet coverage on Fox at the moment, not sure that he'll be on the Matty Johns show every other week if he moves bacj to Brisbane.
