Seibold - 5 games in

He fucked the Broncos over. No he doesn't.

..or giving your missus a couple of black eyes. Never really liked Inglis, just appreciated what he did for QLD. Kind of like Michael Jackson, liked his music but the guy himself was a creep.

200k would be a small price to pay. Literally anyone in our squad at fb would be better than Boyd right now. Let's just revolutionise the game and put Haas there. Imagine trying to tackle that bastard with a 20-30m runup.
My science... that would be a spectacle.

If we subsidize Jimmy's contract so he can join Souths then management need to give themselves an uppercut.

I don't think "stayed loyal" is the correct term. He took the cash.

Why wouldn’t he? Would any of us, not in his shoes? But there is zero evidence to suggest the Titans offer was the only big money on the table, precisely because we made a play at him. I’d suggest other clubs probably did too.

But regardless of that, the fact is he stayed with the club that gave him a chance to play NRL and I imagine he would if we had given him that chance too. But we released him in favour of no-one.

Roosters havent really been in our position. Roosters poach most of their players so they dont have the junior development we do. Melbourne dont develop local kids, they encroach into other areas to get their talent ( which they do well and do develop players at least ) but they havent really produced a real top line player for a while now. Probably Munster is the one that sticks out. Who are these potential star half-backs at the Roosters and Melbourne who arent playing they are keeping and more importantly, who want to leave ( as was with the case with Taylor )

As for your point about Hunt, are you seriously trying to tell me anyone in the game expected the Dragons to offer him a 6 million dollar contract? to quote you in the same patronising manner, Please.... not one person predicted that. We never in our wildest dreams expected to be priced out of contract talks with him. The offer wasnt just huge, it was astronomical for a player like Ben Hunt. The plan was always bring Taylor back here when his contract expired at the titans, but again, nobody would have predicted we would be priced out of getting him. As i said, in hindsight, we stuffed up. In reality, we were just unfortunate we came up against 2 clubs that were willing to spend more than we were and by ridiculously large amounts.

Your comparison with Haas isnt comparing apples with apples. You are comparing a player on 500k a year to 2 players on a million a year. Hunt and Haas are both on 6 year contracts for example, Haas is 3 million, Hunt is 6 million. Ash Taylor is on a 3 year deal at 1 million a year. The Haas deal isnt even close to the other two.

If anyone involved directly in the NRL doesn’t understand by now that Origin and Australian halfbacks (/hookers) aren’t commanding a million a year or close to it, then they simply aren’t following the game very closely, so I’m not sure I care too much what they think contract prices ‘are’ or ‘should be.’

Whatever they may have been back in the day, is irrelevant. I would have thought Wayne would have learnt that
lesson with Petero and given the money spent on Haas it seems he has, but when it comes to origin and international representative halfbacks, who aren’t exactly thick on the ground, compared to say junior props, it’s still a surprise they are attracting a million a year, bids? THAT is why I said ‘please’. It wasn’t specifically directed at you, but more towards the idea that a Qld / Australian halfback / hooker, WOULDN’T be attracting that sort of offer.

Sorry, that is downright idiotic and if that was Bennett’s line of thought, then that is one more reason I am glad he is gone, because he is clearly, completely out of touch.

I’m as big a fan of Gutho as anyone but if we have any cash for a big name signing to fix our current issues, he isn’t the best idea. If we already had someone organising the attack, he would be great to have as the last piece of the puzzle but we still really need an organiser at halfback or hooker. And all of Gutho’s positive attitude won’t fix that.

I would throw the bank at Luke Keary if he became available. He always wanted to be a Bronco, and he could be a Bronco legend. He comes off contract about the same time as Boyd.

So how come Ash Taylor is commanding a million a year.

DCE looks like the front runner. Then he wins us the third game to sew up the series. Then his rehabilitation is complete in the minds of Maroon supporters. Then he signs for Broncos. Then we have our organising HB. Then we win the comp. Simples.

Anyone catch Lockyer on 100% footy last night? From what he was saying, nothing will be changing in the halves - and I would assume he would know. It's worrying that he believes Seibold will continue with these halves, and that their game management is getting better... Darren must have missed the absolute disgrace that was our last set and attempt at FG on the weekend..
Gus was still on his roll about how the Broncos aren't going that bad, how they will still make the 4, and win a comp in the next couple of years.

Has me questioning if I am watching the same games that these blokes are watching..?
Honestly, wtf is going on.

Perhaps they can see that we are not terrible and are a lot closer to clicking than we passionate supporters believe. A little better handling and we'd be 3 and 2, perhaps even 4 and 1. I honestly believe we are close to being a good team even wirh our limitations. A couple of wins and we will regain our mojo. I haven't lost faith in this season yet.
