NEWS Why Broncos coach was the real winner this week

It would have been silly for him to have a go at Wayne, but he didn't. Lets be honest, JD is both not important and also fair game to defend yourself from. And the way the assistant celebrated obviously Seibs comments cut him deep. I thought the comments were justified and JD is the one who looked silly.

On the contrary, just let it go through to the keeper and focus on winning the game. Fancy someone celebrating a win.

This grief about JD celebrating in the box is strange. It was a tight game that Souths did well to hold on to. I'd imagine if we'd snagged the last minute win our coaching box would've reacted similarly.

It was hard to watch Benny carry on like he had won the GF after the game in the Souffs sheds. I know he must have felt justified after being moved on, but it was still hard to watch.

I said in an earlier post that I hoped we got a chance to play them again in the semis as I'm sure the result will be reversed and the universe's equilibrium will have been restored.

To me it looks like we’ll get them first up in a 5 v 8 playoff

Good, with Boyd announcing his retirement next week hopefully he might put in a few last big digs. Would be pleasurable to see him go out a winner and get revenge on Souffs/Wayne. :rofl

If I'm honest, prior to the Souths game I would have said that we were building and a chance to win the last three season games and get into the top 8.

But now after the loss to Souths, whilst I've pleased with the effort and resilience we showed to come back I'm not confident Seibs has given us enough options in attack to step up to that next level in order beat the Eels or *gulp* the Dogs and then progress and have an impact in the finals.

I really do hope we get a chance at redemption this year versus Souths in the finals but the game would be away from home and I'm just not sure if effort and resilience will be enough, our forwards are building the platform but we need to play smarter as a team and get more from our halves and backs and we need to see it now.

I actually like our chances if we face them again.

Knocking the Rabbits out in the finals would certainly be truly sweet, I hope we get the opportunity.

Really? I'd see it as a coin toss at best, they'll likely have Sam Burgess back and Tom too, not sure about gougin' George, and we'll still be without TPJ. Given the ladder positioms if we play them it'll be in Sydney too. I mean I'd like to see us put 40 points on them but I'm not confident of a win at all.

Where's the fun in that? I doubt saying something that took less than 20 seconds would be taking his focus off the game. JD tried to play with the big boys when he hasn't earned the right to. It was a solid burn that put him in his place.

Mate fair enough it was a good burn. I personally don’t think seibs has earned the right to cast shade like that himself. We’re teetering on the brink of missing the finals, with a 40 odd percent win rate. He really hasn’t achieved much and to sit there and be that self important is not a good look.

Well personally i am glad he spoke up and threw shade at JD.

I'd rather that than he sit back and cop that rubbish on the chin

I agree. Beating Souths in Sydney in a high pressure playoff game would be a million to one. On a different note, Sam Elliott is my fave actor in the whole wide world. Loved him in Roadhouse and Mask. He is one of a kind.

Quick question, have we ever tried to employ melbourne's defensive and wrestling/jiu jitsu coach? If not, why?

Seibs is being paid less per season than WB was, so we should have funds to lure them away from the storm.

lets see what the judiciary serves up for a couple of Souths players put on report...depending on results there its possible Souths slide down the ladder hasn't finished yet....?

We put on a great right hand sweeping movement on Penrtih 2 weeks ago....is it Siebs fault our players didn't look to do that again..??

They obviously practiced it, but its up to the brains trust out on the field to set it up...very little influence for a coach once the players walk over the white stripe on game day...

Look, ill recall something i remember Cooper Cronk said about Melbourne's wrestling training; do note this is form memory and im NOT condoning anything about this...

He said (paraphrasing) that when Melbourne players got involved in chicken wing or crusher tackles it was because the player applied bad technique and was tired and didn't set themselves correctly to wrestle (or something along these lines...)

Now; i don't know if this is a piss-take, if he was serious or trying to make excuses, but for mine this is my takeaway.

This type of thing is a cultural change, it would take significant time and investment to train everyone in the top team to do it properly and then do we really want the same stigma the rest of the league applies to Storm? Hard enough us being the Broncos as it is...

The other thing is the interchange; are the rules about interchange gunna change next year, like less interchanges outside injuries to open the game up? If so, then we will have "more" tired players and if Cronks takeaway is correct then we will be responsible for more injuries and more ruck infringements etc....

I think we would be wise to stay ahead of the game in terms of potential rule changes, so for mine id say no thanks to this idea...but appreciate the thought put in, good idea to consider on paper ill admit...
