Strong no, has everyone just joined the let’s make the wrong fucking decision brigade like the club seems to have?

It’s a moot point anyway, no fucking chance it happens.
Just for clarity, you do know that 'moot' means 'subject to debate, dispute or uncertainty'. It is being debated but your usage of moot here certainly doesn't mean it won't happen!

Yeah I looked it up after I posted it and figured I’d just leave it and wait to get picked up on. I did think it meant ‘not worth discussing further’ and that’s what I’ve always thought. Ya got me.

Couldn't find the button that said "fuckn hell yeah, finally a real leader of men, one who has firstly been a true leader of one (himself) the past few years and who isn't shy of the tough stuff and only scratched the potential with his ball playing ability and will be an origin regularly for years to come , get that fucking c next to his name already, and go **** urselves haters"

I voted yes. If the team lines up behind him, that's good enough for me.

So much respect brother coming from here! My younger sister picked me up on a word I'd mispronounced for years. The word was commensurate, I knew it's meaning but was saying 'comeasurate' as in co- measure--ate!

I hated it and loved it at the same time ha ha. Worst thing, it was at a extended family dinner, bulk witnesses and embarrassment!

Worst part is I edited that sentence in as an afterthought

Absolutely I would.

Look, if the Broncos want leadership then the hierarchy (coach and board) need to show some leadership.

We cannot be dictated to. We can't be intimidated in choosing a captain the media and everyone else thinks we should have. It's that simple. We decide and stand by our decision. **** everyone else.

Now, do I think he'd make a good captain? I really don't know. We'll have to wait and see what happens but it's obvious he has turned his life around and that's not easy. He was in a really bad place. It takes mental toughness and inner strength and determination to truly change ones life and it seems Lodge has that.

My only concern is he gets baited way too easily. I want a captain that leads by example and will never back down, but he gets into the niggle a little too much. Not to mention he gives away too many penalties. He needs to work on this and fix it if he wants to lead this team.

We must get rid of the under 20s 2008 player rot and move in a different direction. It's time. Also, one last thing, people say the captain should be someone with experience. Truth is, we don't have many players in this team with experience anymore. Boyd? He's cooked. Gillett? He's not captain material. McCullough? No way. Glenn? Possibly but is he staying or leaving?

I'd support Matt Lodge as Brisbane Broncos captain 110%.

Yep. He's shown that he'll put the effort in, and has shown he can lift those around him just with his effort alone.

He's turned things around from that night, it shouldn't have over his head forever.

And **** me it'd piss Sydney off. Get it done Broncos, make them hate.

No. We have enough negative attention atm. Why invite the media to rehash everything. Not good for Lodge either. Unusually, I agree with Gus. Glenn if he stays, if not Milford. Make or break. If Milford is not ready to lead next year on the money he is on he can go out the door with Bird, Boyd, Macca and Gillett.

I can't see it happening because of corporate/ sponsorship issues but like soup said, we don't have a lot of options.

Yeah but when they do it will fall on Lodge to address it at every conference. He's played 50 odd games. He doesn't need more pressure. I think he should be allowed to keep doing what he is doing. Give him a leadership role within the team but not the figurehead. Also, why piss off sponsors who are already weighing up whether to stick with our club in its current state.

Would I be fine with Lodge as captain? Sure, I'm fine with Darius being captain. For mine, the captaincy is one of the most superfulous titles in the game. They're responsibility in the modern game is to talk to the referees and to make sure they're getting a decent go, that's basically it.

If I was a player, it would be different. I would want somebody who I would respect and is a proven winner. Those two factors, respect and success are what would lead me to take their opinion on board and listen to them. At the end of the day, the captain has to have the final say.

If I was running the club, I would try and steer away from Lodge. The captain has to be marketable and Lodge is still an incredibly tough sell. I wouldn't say no right away, but I would want to see the other candidates.

If I was putting money on it, I'd lean towards Lodge. Seibold is his biggest fan and White has a lot of admiration for him. From the sounds of it, he's won the team over and if you look at how they play they're usually looking for him to do something, even though he's doing other player's jobs. It frustrates me so much to see him with the ball in two hands on tackle four, not because he's doing something wrong, but because that should be somebody elses' job.

Let's do the DRS

I think the people that are around him on a day to day basis are best positioned to make any call on if he is the right fit for being the Broncos captain, the decision shouldn't be about appeasing sponsors but what is best for the team.
Glad I'm not making the decision hehe

I'm not sure where the hothead jibes are coming from. I haven't seen him arc up and lose it on the field in two years. If I did I can't recall. I do recall the little grub Flanagan kneeing him in the head when he was on the floor with his arms pinned. At the time I thought his restraint was quite remarkable for what had just gone down.
