OFFICIAL Titans get their man with Fifita signing three-year deal

On a side note, why is there no racket about Melbourne losing Tino? Up and coming star, he left for a bigger offer. The only thing Melbourne did better was they gave him an offer early, and didn't let him drag it out. Or he respected the club enough to not drag it out.

But the parallels are pretty striking. Up and coming star, left for a shitter club. Both cases are obviously in search of bigger money bags but it's more exciting to make it sound like he's left because the club is a basket case(which it is but that's besides the point).

there may have been no racket about the Storm losing Tino ... but there has been about us losing Tino

ita definitely partly due to us allowing it to drag out. The media got months worth of legs out of this. Give them a fair offer, give them a deadline, if they sign else where thank them for their service and wish them all the best

Very little meat for the media to pick off those bones. It’s the professional way to handle contracts.

No one gives a **** about the Storm though either.

We’re hated by everyone that isn’t a Broncos fan, and they’re pleasuring themselves daily at our decline because they are sad jealous little people

Did Fifita go to a worse team?

Absolutely. The difference between the clubs is this year is a shock for us, but the norm for them. Them being 3 wins from 11 rounds is an upwards trajectory.

As awful as we've been...

There is a 2.5 point average difference between us this year, and this is easily our worst season on the record books.

I’m not comfortable with this assumption that this club is just going to automatically bounce back. The Broncs culture isn’t what it used to be and there isn’t really anyone at the club at present who understands or appreciates that, or knows how to bring it back.

I don't think it's automatic but with White definitely gone at the end of the year, I've got hope we'll get back to being a competitive club.

Great point. Our defense is clearly worse, but not by much. I do think some of the media has briefly alluded to the fact that it is due to Brisbane being a powerhouse club. I wonder if Gordy's convincing phone call to Fifi was about taking the money over loyalty, or if it was about the Titans being promised a surprise premiership run in the next few years.

I mean, look at some of the recent feel-good stories that have reinvigorated clubs over the past 5 years; Cowboys 2015, Sharks 2016, Melbourne 2017, Roosters 2018/19. All clubs with either poor fan bases and membership numbers or from regions where the game needs a foothold. This year it is the Eels who, while not struggling for members, still haven't had a premiership for a very long time and have been pretty poor for basically the entire 2010s.

Now with a new Brisbane club scheduled, I expect the Broncos to have some notably dark times ahead, unless this season is to gauge the ratings around a poorly performing Broncos team.

Either way, we're still the team the rest of the comp. loves to hate and the team the media knows will get clicks and viewership.

Because Melbourne just rolls them out on an assembly line and they have the coaching to handle the replacements.

But there will be, we have too many resources for this to continue on long term. If you want to think the Titans will be better than us in the long run or that one year erases all history then that’s your choice, just don’t expect many people outside of a Titans troll to agree with you.

He was certainly torn between money and loyalty. It's the same story as Ash Taylor. Broncos were lambasted when we let him go in the same way. This time round Fifi had more game time to prove himself and the media had more time to build hype. Any professional sportsman knows that their body is their money-maker and they know that a major injury can mean a career change and limited prospects. Especially if you have Jharal Yow-Yeh, Jordan Kahu, Jack Reed and many other talented young men whose careers ended prematurely due to injuries as a reminder. These young men know that their success can be fleeting and if $3.75mil is offered to you, you take it. I'm impressed that Fifi held off for so long. This would have been so hard for him to leave his mates, especially if they had pledged to stick together towards a premiership. The Titans went completely mental with their offer and the media hyped it up even further. End of.

The media talk about Fifita deflecting from the Broncos to the Titans is ridiculous.
Ennis and Hooper last night talking about how Broncos players have always taken less to stay at the club.
Brisbane have lost the plot etc. and stating that this pretty much would not have happened under WB, wake up..
Yes, I agree we are sitting in the worse position in the clubs history however..
Anyone recall Ash Taylor leaving? Ben Hunt leaving? Jai Arrow leaving?
They were all the 'next best things', especially Ash Taylor. They all left under WB.
The media have extremely short memories.

Is this the same Ennis who took the cash from the Dogs to leave the Broncos?

I think what has been lost in all of media hype and drawn out process is that this is a fuckload of money for one player in a position that can only influence a game so much. Yes he is a very good player but breakaway tries every few games won't be winning anyone a premiership, won't even be getting you into the 8.

The media (driven by their hate of the Broncos and love of Tallis/Mal in equal measure) are acting like this guarantees them a premiership which is fucking crazy. The Titans have looked at the mess we have gotten ourselves into by paying players massive overs on potential or positions that we don’t need and thought, yep we want that. I mean our administration are fucking halfwits but the fact that they didn’t get into the bidding war shows that they have finally learnt. They learnt too late and it will take years to recover but the Titans have just started down the path.

The media as a whole really are just incredible. They rightly point out that we were over capitalising on the forwards and youth in general at the expensive of the rest of the team. The Titans have now done exactly that by having a massively overpaid forward pack with little experience yet for them it’s a masterstroke? It’s truly incredible.
