Brisbane doesn't need two clubs until Sydney has far less clubs.
Yeah I agree Sydney needs no more than four clubs, Brisbane needs a second , central Qld should have one, perth and a second NZ team.

I disagree though. Professional sports around the world that don't suck and have plenty of cash have 1 team in their cities. If you want to be the best at what you do, why compete with yourself?

So what? It matters to me because it irks me to see certain members, including some on the staff, decide that they are the sole arbiters of who can be a Broncos fan. That type of you're not a real fan if you don't believe what I believe/act how I act performative bullshit makes every thread it occurs in a harder read and the site overall a less pleasant place to be.

It's worse when a particular poster is singled out for personal abuse in plenty of threads by the same crew over and over, some of whom don't mind throwing abuse at the players they dislike while getting terribly upset if someone mentions Seibold's weight, or bitching about the players and/or former coaches they hate while saying that people who talk about Pies the same way aren't even Broncos fans. Hell, if you're going to play Judge Judy and executioner with regards to anyone suspected of being a double-plus unfan, why not start with the crackpots spreading deep state style conspiracy theories about players deliberately not performing? After all, if you can't support the players then maybe you're just not a Real Fan and should go find some other club to support.
Plenty of people on here have conflicting views, yet seldom do I see people name-calling them and when I do, it is more often than not a new poster who has come on simply to stir.

Perhaps it’s that the person playing the antagonist is simply being treated that way.

Just like Seibold (and the board hopefully), certain posters have made their bed and now they have to lie in it.

Just my two-cents.

yeah but maybe the Broncos would not have become the laughing stock of the league if they had a rival in the same city to keep them honest.

I don't know if the players made a conscious decision not to perform because they were so butt hurt old Bennett was shown the door but it was pretty obvious they have not been trying this year, that or they are just gutless wonders.

Or they were baffled by the bullshit the coach threw at them, worn down by a succession of floggings and exhausted by his creative bench strategies. When a player's form is down it doesn't necessarily follow they're not trying or soft, when a team is on the slide sometimes no matter what you do it just goes wrong.

Can you assist me in directing my attention to a post where I have suggested that the players are deliberately not performing?

I'll look into it after you highlight the section of my posting accusing you specifically of doing this.

I would argue to say that Brisbane would be in no position to pay the bill they have to pay today if there was another team in the city.

Competing for the same money and broadcasting slots, and population for mine is just the NRL shooting itself in the foot and moving another city to mimic a broken Sydney model.

Why mention it in a response to me then?

Read what I wrote, if it still doesn't make sense read it again and have a think on it. If it still doesn't make sense after that you can just dismiss it as the ravings of a sleep-deprived madman who isn't even a real Broncos fan.

I see your point but it's the NRL not NFL . If we limited it to one team per city we would only have 7 or 8 teams and the only folks that care about league are on the east coast.

Well firstly, I'm not trying to downplay Seibold's role in our demise. I am simply pointing out the players are also responsible for where we are at currently. They should not be free of blame for some of their poor performances. You can't honestly tell me that a player forgets how to play football because of poor coaching.

Secondly, Glenn has mostly been injured. He has always been a good club man who gives his all. He is not one of the senior players I was referring to. I am looking at Boyd, Milford, Oates and Ofahengaue. These are the guys that should be stepping up more than they have been. Instead, they have mostly been outplayed by less experienced members of the team. They have shown very little in terms of leadership. They should be the ones driving the standards. It's embarrassing when the team turns to a rookie like Carrigan for leadership, when we have blokes with way more experience just idly standing by.

Boyd was invisible in almost every single game this year until he went back to fullback. Let's not forget why he was moved from fullback in the first place. He has been better than last year, but to say he has been good is laughable. He has shown very little leadership on the field. There have been countless games where the team is huddled behind the goalpost after conceding a try where he, among some of the other senior players I have mentioned, just stand there without saying a single word.

It is interesting though that Boyd has started finding a voice again once Gentle took over.
Your last line says it all. You only see what fits your narrative. That last line is pure fantasy. There's that bit of footage we all saw which featured a close up of Boyd staring into the distance. That's what you remember BUT what you didn't see (due to bias) was the earlier footage in the same game after two tries had been scored against us where Boyd was very very vocal trying to rev up the team. You didn't see it because you don't want to see it.

The second thing your bias and narrative ignores is the fact that Seibold very clearly told Boyd and the public at large that he didn't want Boyd's leadership by the ridiculous stripping of Boyds captaincy. Right then Seibold said 'thanks but no thanks'. That didn't stop Boyd from talking to his team mates and he didn't either. He kept talking every game. It was yet another poor decision in a long line of poor decisions by Seibold as was evident in his sacking.

I agree Milford could have done more but in his defence he's never been a talkative inspirational leader. That's not necessarily an indictment of the individual. Offa is a bench forward and I've seen little to suggest he's a leader. Oates tried hard. No, you just want to kick Boyd. Seibold is the architect of his own demise and 100% is to blame for a lack of leadership.

I find that a surprising conclusion coming from you. It w ould be highly unusual to be 100% on a single cause and in my firm belief that is not the case here. Seibold is not without blame and significant blame, but it is not all on him.
Yes, you're probably right. I've made the same claim a few times, it's true. I cannot know if I'm totally correct. That said, a lack of leadership is on the coach and perhaps some weren't putting in but I just couldn't see who wasn't throwing themselves into the task. The only guy who I thought was generally poor was Milford but I am not free of bias either. Anyway, let's all look forward and there's little value in a rehash. One thing we all agree on is Seibolds departure being a good thing. I'm expecting a happier team and everyone trying to send out Boyd, the one true captain a winner.

Toowoomba doesn’t have the infrastructure to support it, sadly. There’s no suitable stadium. A real failing of the Toowoomba council for decades.
Actually................................... As a Toowoomba boy, I have had a thought of it all. Repurposed Gold park, has the hill side to cut a grandstand into, It has the bowls club upstairs for the leagues club, there is enough space to make a multi storey car park and it would hold about 35,000 and be a great addition to the community. Call them the Bears, and the supporters seating can be the "Bear Pit".

Yeah Gold Park would be perfect, especially as it’s walking distance from my home 😂

Been to a few rodeo’s there back in my hay day. Absolutely beautiful spot, though it’s used mainly for union these days isn’t it?
Yes, but i'm sure they can move that out to Newtown, its empty and got the infrastructure to take over. We have the population, we have the services, and most importantly we have the boarding schools to educate the up and coming players.
