Club was right to target Capewell, both this season and next.

Dont forget the 3rd party deals we can get as "sweeteners"...never openly discussed but always there...

Bulldogs want Piakura for $600+ per year; this is a guy who plays well against his own age group, never played NRL and cant till half way thorugh this season....

Apparently there is someone worse than us at recruitment...

No way in Hades do we even offer half that to him. Good luck to the kid if he wants to chase the dollars but unproven talent with that kind of pressure to perform = why the Bulldogs are the Bulldogs.

Milfs another one we have to really look at.

Do we still need/want him, and on what sort of wedge?

Should his money go towards extending Deardon here?

Or do we let him walk and go to market for a half?

I’ll answer your question with a question - do we want to keep doing the same thing we’ve been doing for the last few years and expect a different result ?

I liked the look of Dearden and Croft. Croft IMO is a 6

well, Dearden needs to be palying then, i know hes a tough buggar but he isnt a 19 year old Allan Langer either.

He needs a extended run in this team, should have played more than he has by now but cant change that...

But he has come through the system and is one of our own. I want him to suceed but he literally plays in the single most important position/decision this club will make in the next 10 years.

Croft, yeh he can stay, he can go...i dont really care....

Its the Milf/Dearden decision that will shape our future, or **** it...

I think we need to keep signings to the minimum until our spine is sorted. Don't see the point in signing second rowers or centres unless we have our spine fixed. And realistically we're talking 4 players there at the moment. Gold Coast would be a case in point. Despite all their signings, does anyone think they will be legitimate contenders with Fogarty, Taylor and Mitch Rein? I sure don't.

I get that we need quality just about everywhere, but unless you have class where it counts, it just won't work. Capewell is a good player, but I think he would be less effective in our team because of the difference in quality of our halves/hookers.

My opinion, we throw the bank at Brandon Smith. We need a top quality hooker and he seems a. Gettable and b. The best available.

Sort out upfront and work backwards. Put Dearden into 7 and back him, for a while.... Milford will get the rest of this year to show himself and if he keeps going like the first half last night, we’ll be re-signing him, and we should keep an eye on fullback options. Some murmur about our interest in Drinkwater...

1. Drinkwater
6. Milford
7. Dearden
9. Brandon Smith

Looks a lot better than anything we have had for years, IMHO.

If they could put aside the egos and work it out, a Turpin/Smith combo would be phenomenal.

Based on Kev’s decisions so far regarding team lists and the rumours about contracts we’ve offered and why they haven’t eventuated (chased Mann and Capewell but wouldn’t pay overs, playing hardball with our off contract players, bringing in Asiata with a clear vision of how he will be used and what he’ll provide) Im starting to feel far more confident in our clubs future.

I’m very interested to see what Kev and Donaghy do with all the freedom to change the squad next year.

I reckon we stick with turps if we can’t get grant. I love Turps compete and if he learns to pace himself he’ll be a hell of a player. Not grant but still a good player non the less.

Turpin has PO in his option for 22. After his performance last night and IF it can continue, i dont think its Worth chasing Smith? Walsh would be 20yro by 22 comes around as well with approx 40 ISC games under his belt. Food for thought over Gatorade.

Coates, Mead, Arthars and Niu are also yet to lock up for 22. Count Staggs in that as he's free to negotiate with PO for 22. Thats our whole backline up for negotiation. Quite scary if we get it wrong chasing someone else not in the pool.

If Turpin backs up last night for the next 6 weeks, yep I'd abandon any chase of B.Smith. Still chase Grant though.

Jake needs to adapt his game. There is no way he can constantly play at the intensity he does for 80 mins week in week out. He needs to play smarter or we need to give him a break.
