Not a bad analogy.......still, it is only R2. I'm prepared to wait just a bit longer before sending him into oblivion. That said, if he continues to dish up more performances like last night

it can't go on much longer.

I would like to see Milford and Deardon play together more often and start to work on a game plan. I think Kevvie has fucked up by offering Croft the position first over Deardon. I can't recall Croft showing us anything better than what you might see in the reggies, the entire time he has been at Brisbane.
I don't, but I do take your point that Croft is not better than Deardon.
I'm holding to the belief that KW knows this, and his selection of Croft over Deardon actually isn't to do with form or ability, but what is best for both Deardon and the team long term.
I think he has told Deardon he is the long term number 7 for the Broncos and just wants him to spend a certain number of weeks in the lower grade working on X and Y.
And if it really is best for player and club long term, I'm all for it.
Of course this is all just guess work, I have no inside info.

I think most of this is pretty close. I myself cannot see the point in having Milford continue. I think it was 3 or 4 years ago I was screaming about Milford and his collar grabbing, touch footy tackling. Nothing has changed, he's always been a turnstile and one more week won't help. The only thing not tried is 6 weeks in ISC and an instruction to earn MoM a few times and no more than 6 missed tackles in 6 games. I don't blame Milford solely for last year but he has been poor for a very long time.

I'm only talking out of my arse here but I also see it as a maneuver. Both Milford and Croft are dead men walking whereas Dearden is incoming. If either of them get sent to the lower grades it's not to "work on something." It's being sacked from first grade. So had Walters put Dearden in for Croft, he would've been basically prematurely sacking the most senior player, who really hasn't done anything wrong. Sending Milford back to the ISC on a million dollars a year would send shockwaves through the NRL. But we all think it's going to happen eventually unless he's given the out through injury.

The trouble with dropping both is, other than Dearden, no-one is knocking on the door to play on the other side. Would you drop Croft or Milford for Kelly? I'm not sure anyone would. Asiata, Paix? Nope.

The wild card is Karmichael Hunt. If we're so up shit creek Walters is ready to drop Milf, he might be willing to throw Hunt in there to steer the ship, regardless of whether he's got slow or isn't quite the five-eighth he might've been 15 years ago had he stayed in that position. I don't see him doing that unless we're heading to the bottom of the table in a slurry of shit.

If St George want to give Hunt back and we paid 500/600k I'd say, yes please but I have the feeling they are going to be happy with Hunt and Macca. I like the older version of Hunt and he might just have overcome the mental fragility issues I felt plagued him. He seems somehow tougher for the experience and leaving was the right thing but I'd like the 2021 version here in Brisbane. I wonder if the Broncos might approach Saints?
For us to pay $500-600k for Hunt the Dragons would have to still be kicking in the balance of his deal which in his case would mean the best part of 3/4 of a million dollars a year for a guy to play for another club.

Very hard to see any club agreeing to that.

Hunt could even play in the Centres. Hell, he could probably still play Fullback at a better level than Isaako.

I'd be really keen for us to get him back around the place to see if he can work on driving some better standards amongst the playing group.

Happy to have him in for his ability to talk and organise, but setting standards is a long bow mate.

Nuh...i think its better to purge the club of the 2015 players.
Milford, Glenn and Oates gone will complete that.

Every week I see Benji putting in and is probably on minimum - yet we have this goose on top dollar putting in that drivel.

Benji calls out players not putting in around him, he actually leads and can play. How did we not throw a heap of cash to get him back into this squad? Totally understand he wanted to stay in sydney, but a year or two on 3-400k he probably would have gone for.

Even if it's just to throw shade at how poorly some people train. Sounds like they areally need someone to give these players a brutal reality check, their shit actually does stink.

How many more reality checks do they need though? The old boys have called them out, they've had a coach sacked, they've been embarrassed week in, week out and won a wooden spoon. On top of that, they've been booed off the ground, copped it form all and sundry in the media and by fans, likely cop it in the streets every day from any local mullet wearing hero and still come out and (some of them - looking at you Milf) STILL produce half-hearted 'efforts' and stink the place up. Not sure anything can help other than a targeted roster overhaul and not sure Benji is part of that.

Would have loved to get him back for a season, but money wasn't the issue for him. Wouldn't have convinced him.

being called out by the external forces, the "haters" etc is one thing. Being called out by your "own", another thing entirely. We've not seen a current Bronco come out and say "Milf needs to pull his socks up, he played like crap". Team mate honesty just isn't there, especially with the 'bro' culture we've got from our Captain. Lexi's a champion person, but not a leader. Leader needs balls and needs to call out under performers to their face, Lexi doesn't have it in him.

you'll never see that .. in fact you'd never see that from any team.

even coaches rarely single out a player publicly

There is seriously short to nothing available on the market for the next two seasons in halves.

Dufty at Dragons would be who i sign for next season on a 3yr term. We would have to get in now with him though. We have no chance of Paps or Smith.

I thought he was 1.2 million pa. They were desperately trying to unload Hunt last year. I'd be happy if we tipped in 600k and they did. Wouldn't want to pay more than 600k. I reckon he'd be great value for us...now.
