Perfect context for Payne Haas to begin his legacy.
He doesn't improve our middle D, he is probably our worst defender on our goal line. I am excited to see how he goes with reduced minutes. Both Haas and Carrigan should not play more than 40-50mins.

Fair enough but Croft isn't coasting. He never has coasted. He puts in 100% all the time but I totally accept that Croft is not the gifted half back we crave. What I won't accept that because he isn't a world beater he's a piece of shit. In my opinion he's a moderately talented bloke he gives his best week in week out. I think that's all we need too. Shane Perry was the same. What we do need is a world class 5/8 and then Croft( or Dearden ) would do a perfectly acceptable job. I'm sick of the hate on this place but I'm staying anyway.
I think croft would do better playing 6 imo with deardon controlling.

Dearden isn't a game manager, I think Dearden is a 6 moving forward, at least for the next few years.

a Storm side containing Cam Smith, maybe ... but without him they are beatable
lol. Beatable by this Broncos team that took 60mins to score a try against a reserve grade Dogs side?

I won't be surprised if Storm win by 50. I will be surprised if Brisbane keep the score respectable.

That would be an experiment that might work. I like Crofty but I don't know if he has the creative edge needed as a 5/8. I'd want someone to really run the rule over him, someone with great experience like Locky, hell maybe KW ! Only joking of course, I have no clue but I think KW is actually a Croft fan so I think I'm just going to sit back with a drink and let KW work out who is our best option in the halves.

A diamond amongst the shit. Agreed on all points.

For what it's worth I agree with you. Trying to find a scapegoat to blame every week isn't productive or helpful. I may not be a regular around here, but its something in my family we talk about a lot. My father has a big broncos logo tattoo on his inner bicep, he got it while he was blind drunk but it's a constant reminder regardless. Growing up with Broncos has been a great experience simply because they always had a team in the top half of the ladder with players who had been with the club their entire careers. Whatever year it was, Broncos were in the mix. 2006 my fav year of course, game 3 state of origin, 2006 final, I'll never forget it. I think most people who grew up in QLD would have a similar experience.

It's a bitter pill to swallow when the team is in the state it is. Fans of other teams would laugh and say get over it, happens to the best of teams, you're not invincible forever. But the Broncos..

There is anger, frustration, pointing fingers, wanting to blame, trying to fix things. But in the end it's just about learning to come to terms with.. dare I say it.. losing. There is no magic bullet, no simple fix, and thats ok. Losing isn't fun, but it's inevitable in sport, you will lose, and it takes character to persevere in the hope of brighter days ahead. I hope the young guys on our team get to experience that, and when they do it will be the greatest feeling knowing what they have been through. The next time I talk about the Broncos to a family or friend, I'll being making an effort to be less critical and more supportive.

To be fair it was a shit throwing contest, at the same token we almost beat Parra who the week after beat Storm.

When the Broncos were formed I was 29 years old and an instant supporter. I've been with them since day dot. I was there when they won the '92 grand final. We've had champions and average guys and very very few below average people ever got the chance to call themselves a Bronco. I doubt any but there's probably been a couple. Regardless, I still try to view every footballer with a balanced mind or outlook. I try to be fair as humanly possible.

How talented a player is in a sense less important than other traits. I admire their courage to run the ball up, to readily accept the challenge. 99% of the people who watch the game simply could not do it. On their best day, at their fittest, strongest, youngest, healthiest if you threw them the ball and said, run straight and as fast as you can at JWH and two gorillas the same size they'd either shit their pants or just tell you to get fucked.

Then you have the keyboard warriors calling first graders, pea hearts and cowards. So laughable. Some of these players are tougher and stronger than others but there isn't a single first grader who isn't a hard bastard. There's no pea hearts amongst them.

Some are more talented than others, no doubt about it but they're all tough men. We all know that very few on here would say what they believe to these players faces.

So, when a Bronco runs on the field he has my full support. It's when he lets his team mates down ( not me) that my support starts to waver. If he quits and starts half arseing it I want him gone. How good a player he is, well that's secondary. If we don't win, I can accept that. When a player doesn't try...

Shit, someone on here who is actually older than I am. You make some very good points, sir. Like you, I experienced the Bronco's golden era and it was a wild fucking time and one of the greatest stages of my life. Back in the heyday of the 90's, one would never even comprehend the modern day shit show. It just wasn't possible with this club. Throw in a few fuckups trying to do a job they aren't qualified to and you have the current farce. It's a shame what the club has become but it doesn't overly concern me because I have the 90's and no one can take that away from me. How's your unit in Kirra going?

Is there a way to see live game posts as they appear without having to refresh the page? Apologies in advance, I am technologically challenged.

I thought I was the oldest on here but there's a couple got me covered. My connection with the Broncos goes back to when Alfie worked on the Ipswich City Council patching holes in the road. My Dad was the truck driver. I supported the Jets of course so when the Broncos were born it was a no brainer.

We won't ever be as we were because in those days we bought major talent and had our pick of the talent pool as well. We seldom had to go outside to fill in the blanks. We can get close though because we still have advantages even if a second side happens. We do have a problem though and it's going to be the double blow of a genuine burgeoning top 8 side in the Titans and a new club. If the Titans really do kick on and finally become a big and successful club then we really will have a battle on our hands.

The next 18 months are truly critical and KW succeeding is vital, in my opinion. If we can regain 75% of our reputation we will be okay in the long run but if we're a basket case at the end of next season there's every chance we'll stay there for decades. A rebuild with two neighbouring clubs going strongly might just make it impossible.
