Round 6 - Broncos vs Panthers

All right, third post on this. Genuine question, is dearden supposed to be a game controlling half or a ball running occasionally kicks it half? I’m not being smart or anything of the like, I’m just confused as he kinda just reminds me of Croft...not a horrible thing but is it what we’re looking for? I’ve been a detractor Of Milf as “most” of us have but his defence has improved in the last couple and I can’t help but feel if he was playing, we win that game off the back of his boot.

Again, I think it was the right thing to do from Kev, as it clearly set a standard and it showed tonight in the forwards.

I should just let it rest till next week see how he goes.

Just talking out loud really.

He probably will be more of a game controlling half, but he doesn't have the experience for it yet.

To me Dearden is at least 1 QCUP season from being an NRL player. He's not... Bad. But he's just not ready to do much yet. I wouldn't mind keeping him around for another year and see where we're at then, but if it's a bidding war thing, see ya later. That being said, if him staying in first grade means Milford stays out of first grade, I'm all for him learning on the run.

I think Croft will dot he job just fine for another year, and hopefully we can pick up SJ/ARey for next year. We must be flush with cash for next year so I'm expecting a few nice signings.

Helps us with recruitment too. The good players will see there's a lot to work with.

I was thinking this during the game funnily enough. I was thinking Capewell must have been pretty impressed with what he is hopefully coming in to.

Fifita was ill a few weeks ago and was still one of the most dominant players -v- the Warriors a few days out of hospital. Next excuse please, caller.
Excuse? Also weird that two completely different scenarios are compared. Not related to the mere mentioning of the fact the club had a couple players ill leading into the match.

Having the crowd at Suncorp would have given him a buzz too

So many wasted chances, a bit of ref fuckery as expected, but this is the first time I’ve been proud of this side in almost two years

Well done boys
I still can’t believe isaako kicked on the first tackle.... surely no one knew he was going to do it. And if he suggested it, someone should have told him to get stuffed

Clearly you’re remembering the ones he made and not the ones he missed, which are of equal importance. He slides down the legs ok but they step out of his tackle. Same as last week. He urgently needs a session or two with Gilley.

Mikford must be pissed off seeing the forwards actually rise for the occasion when he isn't playing. The big difference were the team actually making it into an attacking position instead of making 30 metres and then passing it to Milford to bomb it and no one chasing it. We still lost because of the halves not being able to finish it off but there were good signs the team were playing for each other. If anything Milford being dropped has made the rest of the players realise it doesn't matter how much they are paid they can still be dropped. Keen to see next week! Tpj needs to do that every week. He was our best and I'm sick of the excuses. Happy to see Oates back too!

Yeah when milfords back in a couple of weeks hopefully the effort continues.

Great game and especially by our forwards who came out on top over the Panthers pack. Thought our halves were head and shoulders above what we have seen in the last 2 years. Dearden looked a bit lost at times but time to give him and Croft the rest of the year to form a combination. It was so pleasing to see them stick to the game plan and get to their kicks instead of what we have seen from Milford who I'm hoping now sees an extended run in the Intrust Cup till his contract ends.

Firstly I've gotta ask did one of the panthers boys lay shit in lodge's missus or something? Because he looked like he wanted blood tonight.

I had goosebumps watching kevvie screaming his head off at the boys pre game and it seemed to fire them up. Really annoyed me the commentators saying "the panthers weren't great tonight". They completed 13 from their first 13 and still completed at 81%.

We really lack strike out wide. Until herbie and or staggs is back we will struggle to score points because our centres don't offer anything.

A really good performance though, Croft seemed to own the team tonight which is what we've needed someone to do but i thought Deardon was a bit too quiet. Issako keeps doing enough to keep me interested and think if he keeps developing maybe he can be our long term fullback?

Realistically last night means nothing if we don't carry on that performance into next week and so forth. They should all be feeling good about themselves after that game and go into training with a spring in their step and hopefully come out firing again next week.

Welcome back Goates the meter eater.

On the commentators at half time they all said “usually we would say the other team are playing poorly but we can’t tonight”. Obviously they were reminded they went off-script at some point.
