Round 6 - Broncos vs Panthers

Yes, I'm watching and waiting for a few to acknowledge that on the evidence of this single game the self evident truth is that that Brody Croft is NRL standard.

Not a big claim, just that he is a capable nrl first grader. That would be a nice place to start for those who may have misjudged him in the past.

A few of us have always known BC could play the game and under a fuckton of pressure he delivered. I think he can play at close to this level consistently so we fans would be happy with that.
Now if only we could get kennedy a run off the bench

Was physically sick in the days leading up to the game. Same as Flegler. Please reread my post.
Do the NRL COVID protocols allow players to play if they are sick? If you're going to blame illness on a shit performance, provide some more info.

Our forwards beat penriths pack tonight.

It looked like the general game plan Was a simple one of completing sets and winning field position, which we largely did. Unfortunately, we rarely capitalised on it.

Our attack in their end was clunky and premeditated, so we didnt take advantage of their defensive lapses. This is where our halves need to play a bit of heads up footy. It would help if we had several plays to run from the same attacking shape (similar to melbourne). This might give our halves a few options when attacking the line.

Missed chance for dearden tonight. He had the opportunity to stand up and take ownership, but didnt. I agree with others, i would not get into a bidding war, i think he is at least a couple years off.

Dearden didn't combine well with Asiata. He also went himself a few times. I was ok with the first but we needed to go to the wing on the others.
Let's see how he fairs next week.

Great effort from our lads.
It's hard to get a guage on how good we were because the Panthers were so far down on what they have produced so far this year.
Keen for next week to see if we can maintain that effort level.

Great game but it's still a lost game.

They need to be more efficient in the truth moments. They let pass the momentum with some strange choices ( Isaako, kicking game ? Drop Goal ? ) and they ve been crucified by the vice-champion. Maybe Croft have could try the drop goal earlier.

Oates has been very good tonight, good defense and he's constantly win meters.

Except his knock-on on the Penrith first try, but it's not a scandal if the referee whistle against the Panthers. Their winger didnt look and tackled Oates in the air.
I also oved the tackle skills of Jake Turpin. Great game in defense like always.
The front rowers were very good tonight, with a tough Mathew Lodge ans Payne Haas.
And How about the TPJ game ?
They all play hard, hit hard, run hard.

Bullemor, this kid has something special. He can be a very productive sub this season. Great footwork, fast, powerful...

This was a very deceptive night, this game was for us. With the next returns of Staggs and Herbie we can hope for better days.

I don't think they were. They played well, we played mostly better but just not consistently enough. That game gave the side a lot of lessons, we matched it with one of the top three while they were playing well.

Really good effort, other than the Storm knocking them off in the GF that’s the most beatable the Panthers have been made to look in a while.

Haas and Lodge were great and Croft and Dearden had their best games in a Broncos jersey I think.

We are not going to play finals football so some experimenting is in order. The decision to drop Milford paid off imo, the team looked less confused than it has for some time. I’d like to see Isaako dropped for Farnworth next. Isaako is not an NRL standard fullback, Farnworth isn’t a certainty but he has the skills to be and should get a shot.

dearden had no excuses tonight, dominant forward pack, good field position, just didnt do anything sad to see

Well after tonight, if we can back that up regularly, I'm not so sure we can't sneak in at 7 or 8.

His service from Asiata was pretty garbage at times, he's only a kid still also. They don't all come into the grade and win you games like Sam Walker

Not to mention having the Morris Bros and Teddy to back you up. The forwards layed a great platform for Walker in the final moments where Walker looked really good. Prior to that the commentators were talking about his missed tackles.

Bullemor has me a bit excited too. Looking at Isaah Yeo, he looked pretty ordinary before last year. Then he showed how effective footwork is in the middle of the field in the modern game and was possibly the most improved player in the game last year. Bullemor could be like that but hopefully even better.
