I don’t see staggs as a half. He can play fullback.
Happy to have them both.
Well apparently Staggs is off to the Titans now so I don’t think we need to worry about where he’s going to play...

I dont see staggs as a fullback.

Yes he has explosiveness and acceleration but i dont think he has the cardio to cope with the amount of km's elite fullbacks do.

I know people may counter that with latrell not having great cardio, but souths outside backs do a lot of hardwork to account for it.

You could likely do something similar with a backline of Coates, Oates, Farnworth and Isaako (as a centre) too though.

Rothfield is spreading two rumours in the Tele:

1. Staggs is more than likely more than likely leaving and most likely to the Titans thanks to cash they'll have sitting around from flogging off Ash Taylor.

2. TPJ is being shopped around despite being signed until end of 2022.

Staggs is young ... so he could get that level of cardio if he is dedicated and professional enough. but we'd need to make that decision very early in the preseason to get him ready

he got that one by reading Brent Read's article that didn't even amount to speculation when talking about moving on a middle forward ... lazy reporting at it's best

TPJ is an interesting one. History shows he is one of the most unreliable, inconsistent, ill disciplined players we have. At the same time, if he can control himself and play to his potential, he is a top, top player. I'm really in two minds as whats best for us to do with him.

so far Kevvie has managed to control those brain farts of TPJ's ... or maybe it was the wake up call he got last year, by having to work a real job ... either way, right now he is on the right track IMO, i wouldn't be looking to get rid of him early,

I'm too lazy to look it up, but which came first?:
* Kevin Walters being confirmed as out 2021 coach
* TPJ copping a monster fine and dressing down, when we had every opportunity to sack him

If Walters was involved in retaining TPJ, I'd doubt we'd move him on now. We were handed a golden opportunity to tear up his contract and not pay him a cent. I also think TPJ has played some very good games this year, and has kept his aggression in check. So if Walters was keen on keeping him them, I doubt he'd want him off the books now, especially as he has indeed shown improvement.

Thats my thinking. I guess we will see over the next 5 or 6 games whether his form is a flash in the pan or if he has turned a corner.

I'm pretty sure that the dressing down was before Kevvie was appointed.

In fact I think it was Locky that went into bat for TPJ and convinced the rest of the board to give him another chance

I think what's best for the Broncos is for him to see out his contract and then make a decision as to his best place in the team (prop, lock or second row).

Second row seems his best spot, but we do have some talent coming through/ already there in Riki and Piakura. I think TPJ is better than both (pending defence and fitness), but those two in 2yr time may be pushing for selection as the starting 2nd row.

There's also every chance TPJ moves on as well... there was a lot of talk last time when TPJ re-signed and he only ever mentioned that he wanted to be at the club... but the actions from last year and breaking the bubble screamed of a guy that may have been looking for a quick way out... until he realised there were no suitors looking to pay him that much.

I think he's been reasonably consistent this year and is bringing a point of difference to our forward pack... he's rumoured to be on $650k which I think is good value for what he's bringing and right now we need him in this forward pack.

I definitely wouldn't be looking to move him on.

He’s been one of, if not our best player this year imo. Far more consistent than previous years. I’d be disappointed if he was the forward we moved on early (though if he’s still a gronk off the field than I guess you have to do what you have to do - wouldn’t be shipping him out on performance though).

I see a bit of a young Justin Hodges in TPJ. Enormous talent that can have some brain fades and almost try too hard sometimes. Hodges learnt to handle it better, and would really step up in those tight games where needed, and I think TPJ is really doing that lately.

If the team isn’t performing, he sometimes tried too hard to make something happen and would do a high shot or a penalty or something. He’s tapered that back and just tries to get his hands on the ball and lift the team. If he keeps playing like he has the first 5 rounds I wouldn’t be letting him go. He’s been our best forward this year by a long way in my opinion
