what did he say? didnt catch it

It was a long presser, you should watch it but essentially he was saying going back a set and blowing a penalty was ridiculous. He questioned whether the refs or the bunker are running the game. He spoke about penalised head highs is good and will get the message across to players and legs tackles should get more reward. He also spoke about understanding what your fans want and what is happening at the moment is likely leading to people switching the game off and that should be a concern.

This "Magic" Round of football has been unforgivable. It's frankly been an embarrassing farce. The AFL will be laughing into their Wheat Bix on Monday.

It's easy for him to be able to talk about that kind of stuff when your team wins... If Kevvie starts talking about that it looks like excuses.

Kevvie is probably seething about some of the calls and the refereeing in general, but if he starts promoting that in the media then it gives the players an out.

He wants them accountable... the 50 put on them is their fault. If you don't want to get screwed by the ref then don't put it in their hands.

yer thats right if kevvie did that it would just seem like sour grapes and all the media would be on the broncos back about making excuses for the loss

Sure, if he did an O’Brien or Sticky you’d be right. But this isn’t the point. There is a way to do it. Simply mention one thing in your presser, like Wayne did with the going back six tackles and call that out but surround it with being scathing of your players.

He doesn’t have to call everything out but he should pick one or two that really needed to be called out.

Whether or not you agree with everything Wayne said, he spoke clearly and made thoughtful arguments regarding impact with the head. But who’s idea was it to drop what ever this is during the week before arguably the biggest weekend of football. It’s smells of someone craving attention.

Wouldn’t you put all the clubs through an education process for a couple of weeks leading to the implementation of said plan. And make sure the process was clear. Nah, let’s just hijack the biggest weekend of football and make all the conversation not about the football.

Meanwhile the AFL have been having some of the best games of the year this weekend. This really is a tragic round for the NRL, they’ve shot them selves in both feet.

This is looking ominous for the Warriors. Eels very dominant. This could get very ugly for them if they cant stem the tide soon.

They are very lucky they didn't get a player in the bin.

Apparently, the head honchos at NRL HQ told the referees to ease up. They were being too 'over conscientious' or whatever waffle they came up with.

I don't think there's going to be any consistency over the matter. You're going to get some officials like Sutton who will go hard in one half and then you'll get another who will ignore them entirely.
