My man facing a revolt?

Read and Badel have turned on Kevvie this weekend, citing mixed messages and awkward man management. This is on Kevvie, not them: he's taken the team back to the bottom of the table, made some questionable choices and done nothing to suggest he can deliver on his promise to restore unity.

It looks like it's over for him, to be honest. Here's what the readers think

This is how it starts, and then it snowballs with every loss. The only way back out of this hole is to win, or to sign some big names that might give a glimmer of hope for next year.

Is this where a player, or someone affiliated starts a social media hatchet job? What is this one going to be? Kev caught messing with Buck?

He’s a passionate guy and knows what the club culture is meant to be, if the club signs some quality assistant coaches and gives them more control over team lists and bench usage then Kev could potentially be a good figure head.

It’s a a wait and see regarding who the club signs in the next 12 months. If the roster rebuild goes well and Kev is subsequently sacked for someone more qualified to coach them then I will have a lot of respect toward Kev for coming in and being the martyr. Holding the fort while the axe swings and copping all the player unrest and media scrutiny. if the club goes on to have years of success post Kev and this is his legacy I think he should be remembered fondly.

Why.

He actually believed his own hype. He thought because I played for the club & won all these premierships I know all.

It's just more pain for all concerned.

We should have gone with a coach who had nothing to do with us. They have to know the difference between shit & clay.

Tell the players you are in the shit pile, you are the clay pile, you are in between.

As I've said elsewhere dumping the club's bridge to the past is likely to do more damage than good at this point. Unless they can land a killer replacement. There are only four candidates that I can think of who would bring in fresh cattle, none of whom are likely:

1. Bennett. He's available and needs no introduction. Could the two parties kiss and make up? We don't know. Would he be willing to take his mate Kevvie's job? We don't know. A grandfather role is more likely. Could happen. But odds are still against.

2. Bellamy. Not happening. Full stop.

3. Cameron Smith. Few doubt Smith could become a great coach. But being Head Coach of the Broncos is more than being a smart footballer who can teach plays. It looks like Kevvie is spending more time in the back room than the front. Smith has no experience at either. Nor has he shown any interest in serving an apprenticeship. Not happening.

4. England coach Shaun Wane. An unknown in this country, but the best England has to offer. Nothing to suggest this could or would happen, but fans would probably react in much the same way as when Donuts was preferred over Ikin. A long shot apropos of nothing.

Other than these names you're into nobodies like a Seibold type - which won't cut it - or industry stalwarts like Gould, Fitler or one of the Johns brothers, of which realistically none spring to mind.

Conclusion: Despite denials, I'd be surprised if Bennett isn't already in the conversation in a oversight role. Walters to survive the season.

I definitely don’t think Walters will be sacked prior to his contract ending. His replacement is probably going to be hired soon and just assist until Kev’s contract expires.

Smith as not a real suggestion. That’s never going to happen and he’s had literally no coaching apprenticeship. He’ll more likely be QLD’s next coach. A position he is perfect for.

I would suspect the editors at News would have had Badel journal this story in readiness for a suitable Sunday Mail headline for some time and today’s the day. In any business when the staff feel they are dicked around then it’s only a matter of time before all and sundry become restless.
The way Kevin has chopped and changed the roster is no wonder we were going to get to this point - if in fact we have. To my way of thinking there are two parts to our story at the minute - most important and immediate action is to source a coach to get us back on track and that means attracting the right players.
We then need someone else to take us forward.
That may well be Kevin if things are put right for him.
Looking back, Waynes idea of letting him complete his contract and then handing over to Jason now makes a lot of sense. I was one of those that wanted Anthony but now admit how wrong I was.
We need Wayne to fix this mess.

Yep. And does anyone care if THESE ***** revolt? Fucking **** off don't let the door hit you on the way out. Even when not revolting they are wooden spoon material.
Yes. You're overlooking that Kevvie promised the opposite of this. He promised to unite the club and clear the air. Maybe he's been given carte blanche to torch it to the ground first because that's what he's doing.

Ryles or Green would be more likely than any of those.

I think its a press beat up tbh. I've spoken to a couple of blokes there and its more about him ( like the article says ) not communicating well enough. I dont reckon its arrogance, and he isnt unpopular, i'm getting the impression he is overwhelmed.

Almost everything Kevin has said has been contradicted. It would make a great article/list.

That's pretty much Badel's opinion piece today. And there's nothing unfair in it. If you lose Badel, you lose the Broncos. Kevvie's had a fairly easy ride to this point. But once you hit bottom of the table you better be ready for the fallout.
