I'm not going to judge Kev until the middle of next season. He inherited $2-$3 million dollars worth of dead weight on the team, hard to stay afloat with that sort of anchor.

Love to wipe the smirk off Bennett's face though during that press conference. He left the club in shambles with Santa Clause contracts for Boyd, Bird, MILF. Bennett's signature move before he leaves a club.
And dont forget extending Gillett coming back from a broken neck

Well, well, well; what do you have to say about this @Santa?

I reckon Coates was just messed up with the whole contract saga and eventually deciding to leave the club. Not an easy decision at his age, plus he got torn to shreds by social media. and riki just seemed burned out to me. 80 minute games at his age and experience... that was insane.

He left for the money.

The I want to be a Broncos for life crap & then weeks later, signs with the Storm.

He had no intentions of staying, he meet with Bellamy late last year. Accidentally bumping into him on the Gold Coast.

I don't blame people for tearing him to shreds.

I could be wrong but didn’t he leave for less money?

Are you not including the brown paper bags, the boats etc. lol

The Storm are the new Roosters. Sign for 'less' then when they leave the club they save a trillion dollars from the Salary Cap.

Perhaps Kev has been learning how long an NRL season actually is!?

I mean as origin coach... I mean that's a tough gig... (not)

Game 1.. Get delivered a team of stars...
- take them for some bonding session.. with or sans alcohol

Game 2.. if win... whacko! have another fun week and perhaps even bring in a motivational guru or two
if loss... a) stick with existing team as that's what QLD has always done..
b) shake up the team with the next batch of stars.. mass changes ok

There's really not much to be done in origin I have always thought.. which is why somebody like Mal can do well and Bellamy can flop.

As a NRL coach building combinations is actually a thing, you wouldn't be looking to do something like bring back a 30+ year former star like Alfie for that as you know it's not...just...one...game... but a whole season.

It's hard when the person involved seems a decent person. But, ...

Before being appointed, astute judges - https://www.sportingnews.com/au/lea...s-nrl-coaching-nous/zz3zxvvd3jgs1p2ztzsj5fe4k - warned that there was no evidence that Kev could coach. He wanted the job, because "I love this club", but was he seriously considered for any other first grade coaching roles ? Was he really qualified to be given the role ? Is the outcome then surprising ?

It's interesting to review his comments from when he was appointed. It's hard to conclude anything other than he is in way over his head, and probably shouldn't have been put in this position in the first place but the Board was weak in the face of "the old boys". All the references below are from https://www.nrl.com/news/2020/09/30...unite-broncos-and-return-to-finals-next-year/

1 "That is my first objective, to get in and unite the club again. With everyone working in the same direction it is amazing what results you can come up with."

2 Walters will no doubt make some roster tweaks at the Broncos but he is adamant he has the players at his disposal to revive the club’s winning ways. The likes of Anthony Milford, Corey Oates and Joe Ofahengaue are in need of a second wind in their careers and Walters has coached them at the Maroons and as an assistant to Bennett at Brisbane. He knows what makes them tick.

3 Walters insists the Broncos can be the big movers of the 2021 season and play finals football at least."That is my expectation. When you think about the Broncos you think of a winning culture and that is what we will return the club to".

All of the above comments just look foolish given the passage of time. As does his insistence that we have improved from last year when clearly things are worse and regressing.

Enough is enough. The Broncos deserve more than "I should be coach because I love this club and I will cry if I don't get the job". Any score more than 1 out of 10 is ludicruos; the facts are we are running last and the club is in disarray. Suggesting what we see today is the same as four years ago (when we lost a grand final in the last minute), as Kev did on Friday night, just highlights how far away from being in a position to deal with the issues he really is.

As I started, none of this is to criticise Kev as a human and a legend of the club. For both of those factors, he should be afforded dignoty and respect. But, as a coach, he should never have been put in the position, but he was, and the high price for that ludicrous decision is now being paid.

He was/is deluded.

That's the problem Seibs had. The players think they run the club.
The problem pies had is that he’s a moron and lost the respect of the group by being a Derrick.

Walters problem is he needs to try and undo the seemingly irreparable damage caused by the moron

First 2 rounds last year, we were on fire.

Covid hit, 6 week break, we come back & we were shit.

What happened in those 6 weeks.

I don't fully blame Seibold
