Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2021

Niko isn’t a bad option and I would HOPE that Reynolds has had a say in who he thinks will compliment him as a halves partner. Again, I wouldn’t want to be spending anymore then 350-400k on Niko.
I still think one of the biggest ones we have to go after is Capewell..
His leadership and character is something we desperately need in this side. Sua for mine is too similar to a TPJ type. Only gets up a couple of times a season, has also now been dropped from QLD & Souffs, we need consistent blokes who don’t need motivation every game to get up.
I’m intrigued to hear who these big scalps are that we are supposed to be landing.
DD however is giving me more and more confidence everyday, so for the first time in a little while, I’m actually getting excited.

Looks like Campbell has until 2023... on a development deal... wait 3yrs on a development deal... and with a fucking club option.

Was this kid just complete trash until literally this year??

How does his manager let him sign a 3 year development deal as a young fullback with a prestigious name??

Is Presto his manager and is currently living in a beach side mansion on GC that's "not" being paid for by Frizelle

He played MM and Colts for the Bears and then local A grade last year on the Coast. They moved him to the Tweed this year to start ISC because the Bears have Rowe.

He was on a train and trial deal last season for seven weeks and moved to a development deal this year.

Train and trial and development deal is pretty fair for local footballer.

100% they will... just flagging the hypocrisy and faux outrage the media like to use.

I have no doubt that Walsh would've been our fullback probably as of Rd 11 this year or maybe earlier if a top 30 spot opened up and we bumped him up.

However warriors have come in over the top and promised him a first grade spot this year even though he was under contract... how did they manage to tell Walsh that he could have a starting spot with them this year without enticing him to break his contract, which is illegal under the salary cap.

He signed for three years then they did the release for this year with the Broncos consent. Warriors did nothing wrong.

Reynolds has said he wants Milford and thinks he could get the best out of
Him. I’d be okay with it for $300k a year

Interesting that the 6 spot could come down to either Milf or Nikorima next year (if Stagg goes back to centre).

We made this exact choice previously, betting that Nikorima wasn't going to pan out as a half, and I'd say it was the wrong one given their relative contract values (with the benefit of hindight, at the time it may have been the right call).

This time around, Nikorima would probably command a bigger price and we've seen his success at the Warriors in the 7 role, while we've seen Milf languish here.

They're not dissimilar players, and while Niko has been the better performer over the last few years, Milf has more upside and will likely come cheaper.

I'm not advocating for it, since I don't think there's anything that could justify offering Milf another contract here, but it's probably a choice that could go either way (especially if Ikin is a fan of Milf, as he seems to be).

Technically he'd be eligible for Queensland... right?

Imagine if 3 years ago someone told you that Milford would come cheaper than KNik.

Milf has more upside ???
Please explain ...

So tonight on NRL360 Slothfield has interviewed KW who admitted it was his decision to let Reece Walsh go. Said too many young players blooded and wanted him to play at least 6 more ISC games. Walsh was on 60k at Broncs and moved to Warriors for 100k. Wtf Kevvie you Muppet
Bullshit. KW is NOT a muppet for wanting to develop a kid properly. Seriously.

Would 6 isc games even make a difference though? If he’s that close he’s probably ready.

Where did you get 6 ISC games from? All I have heard is he wanted him to play a few months. That's not unreasonable and in terms of if he is ready that all depends on whether you want more from his game than flashy plays. We have seen it before where kids come in and look great because the bar is low and they play with so much confidence that the highlight reel overshadows concerns. In a year or two when that disappears they are left with an incomplete game and very few can or will fix once they have 'made it'.

All that is irrespective, it is not unreasonable to want to handle a players development a certain way and there should be measures in place to prevent this bullshit where clubs do all the hard work and another club can swoop in before they even play first grade.
