NEWS Pack your bags, Anthony!

Newscorp is reporting Ben Ikin has told Milford’s management he will not be offered a fresh contract and must find another club from 2022 onwards. He is expected to hit the open market immediately. Nothing on whether this will affect the rest of his season.

Surely you guys are looking at bringing Nikorima back. Or is Walters serious when he is saying Staggs will be your 5/8 next season?

Taking over Nikorima's contract next year would be a great business decision Kevvy and Ikin. (hope they read this)

Who the **** knows what Walters is intending anymore. I'm not even certain he knows.

I said when he went for surgery a month or so ago that something had probably shown up in a medical with another team.
Or it was a bs story and milf’s last throw of the dice for a new contract.

Kevvie has not said he's coming, so he is likely coming.

That's the impression you get from the headline but the article body says he's been told he's unwanted next year. I guess that's kind of being "released," but not really.

Yeah I noticed that too. Talk about misleading and click bait it was done for dramatic effect.

ANTHONY MILFORD RELEASED!!!!!

Anthony Milford has been told by the Broncos he won't be offered another contract.

He will be picked up most likely by the Tits as he won't want to move far from his parents, but Dragons also enquiring. Hook very keen to get the Milf/Hunt combo back together and they have Norman's money to use.

It pains me to have to keep explaining this but headlines are written and rewritten by subs, not the journalists who file the copy. An hour later, the headline now reads "Broncos have told star he needs to leave." Elsewhere (front page) it reads "Milford misery over as Broncos release $1m man."

You can accuse this of being clickbait, but I don't have a problem with that unless it completely misrepresents the body copy. You'll see this routinely in the Travel section, which like all travel sections, is advert masquerading as matter.

For what it's worth, I think using the term "release" is borderline misleading. It's skating on the edge. Cheeky rather than dishonest. But there's no crime in shepherding readers through your pages with sharp headlines and straps. It's an art-form I admire.

Hunt/Milford combo was awesome. I think that will actually work again.

I thought the thread title said “panicking”....

I don’t know where he goes, his game was always built on his speed, footwork & agility, which I think he has lost a fair bit of. The rest of his game has been manufactured and he’s never looked comfortable doing it.

Someone will pick him up thinking they can get the best out of him, but leaving Brisbane is going to be a very big adjustment for him.

I dunno if I’d believe Kev if he said he was considering having a sandwich for lunch tomorrow, right about now…

He should be right to play for $200k a year after fleecing us for years Faithy. Notwithstanding health issues of the old boy and pacific Islander close family stuff, I've always found it bordering on pathetic that pro athletes cant live an hours flight away and call out the homesick crap when amateur winter Olympians for eg. spend 9 months a year away just to get somewhere appropriate to train.

Released immediately, but no one except Magurie would be keen to take him.

What do you mean borderline misleading. It's flat out bullshit. He's not under contract next year, there's nothing to hold or release. His employment ends Nov 1st.
