So they can sorta sign TPJ now
Tevita Pangai Jnr did breach covid rules last year which may give the Dragons pause in signing him now. I can see why they sacked Paul Vaughan. They are placed at 7th spot on the ladder and they now have Finals contention in jeopardy with suspensions from a range of players because of this incident. This is the last thing the Dragons needed at this point. That's also not taking into consideration in potentially jeopardiseing the NRL season and not following the legal guidelines set up by the state government.

If dragons take TPJ. Could try and front end Vaughn on a 2 year deal. Whatever we have left in the cap for this year and peanuts for next year?

I'd sort of figured that Capewell would lock down an Edge role and that the other three would be rotated along the other Edge until one of them stood up and demanded to be the top pick.

I'm not knocking Frei, I just think he'd be another guy who only marginally might be in front of the others and it becomes a bit of a mess with all of them wanting a bigger role and more minutes. We're financially pretty invested in both Riki and Piakura long term now and it seems unlikely they won't be featuring in the NRL side regularly going forward.

I've only seen a little of Piakura this year but he looks a fair way from being a regular. Imo he needs another good year mostly in ISC. Riki i'm not as big a fan of as some are, but for a forward he is still a baby really. I'd just like to see us give Frei a run this year and see what he's got.

They are fairly interchangeable. Widdop could really elevate our side when in combination with Reynolds.. I doubt he'd be overly expensive.. Maybe 500k? That's half of what Milf is on. His Dad has always been a Broncos supporter and I think Widdop was when he was a kid. None of those signings break the bank. A two year deal would be worthwhile imo. I guess it's a matter of how quickly we want to become premiership contenders. I'm not sure that Adam Reynolds can do it all by himself.
I’m just gonna say for 500k (roughly) you could sign Gagai and for 600 (roughly) you could sign Dale Finucane and you want to sign Widdop on that. He would get minimum wage he is that desperate, old and been playing in the super league he has no bargaining power in negotiations

I believe it’s all the more reason they should sign him. To his credit tevita owned up to his mistakes and took accountability, off the field he has been squeaky clean and he’s been far more mature than previous years. I’d much rather be signing the bloke who made the mistake others just have and took accountability then the ones in your team hiding under beds and running away from cops

Finucane is asking for 700k a season and is nowhere near worth spending that type of money on. He's a forward.. And Gagai is a centre.. We need spine players.

Broncos are spending 600k each on Carrigan and Flegler.. So don't look at me like I'm the idiot.. 😂

500k isn't that much when considering everything. I'd probably only sign him if he came for 400k.. Pretty sure Asiata was signed for around 450k.. Only a one year deal.. I don't think he should be re-signed.

the courier mail just put an end to that rumour ... they published a top 100 rich list and Flegler (nor Carrigan) was on it.

that means Flegler (and Carrigan) is on less than $423k which was the lowest paid on the list

I'd resign Tesi on a 2 year deal at about $250k a year. He still needs a lot of development and in no way has he earned a contract worth more than that.
Agree, I am worried Titans will poach him though. Mal did say they wanted one of our backs. Niu is the last one left that he would have been looking at. Coates signed with Storm, Walsh went to Warriors and Staggs re-signed.

I don't care what you want or think. My opinion stands. I said I'd pay 400k for him.

He's not going to the Gold coast. They have Brimson and they have Campbell. As it stands he would be nowhere near making their side. He looked very, very ordinary in the centers and he has only really done ok in the fullback roll in the last couple of games.

Never is that black and white though, is it? They were obviously looking for a young gun for the outside backs.. I wouldn't think Tesi is out of calculations
