TPJ looks to be off to the Penriff this year (prior to the Dogs in 2022)
Could well end up a funny 3yrs:
2020: Wooden Spoon
2021: Premiers
2022: Woodn spoon

Now wouldn’t that be something!

It’s what I’m pushing for. I want to see Paix in the 9 by he end of this year, compared to Turpin, he’s mile ahead offensively. Of course Turpin is a better defender but you need more than that at 9 these days.
I am not sure why he hasn't been given more time off the bench. He could also do a better job in the halves than croft.

Croft and Isaako should go the way of lodge, TPJ and milford. They represent no value moving forward. We should then lock down Paix. He can play a role in halves and hooker moving forward but 14 portion the first place to start.

Glenn can stay until the end of the year but he is in the same boat as croft milford and isaako. We can't win while Croft and Isaako are in the team. David Mead should have been on the wing the whole time.

I’m happy to get rid of TPJ but **** that.

Like Penrith need more attacking monsters in their forward pack.

The NRL is an even bigger joke than I gave them credit for if they rubber stamp this.

I mean that just has to be banned from the NRL doesn't it.

How can Penrith be allowed to pick up an in form top tier player at this point in the season.

I get that NSWRL want Penrith to win a comp whilst the rules heavily favour players in their team, but this would be an out and out rort.

The panthers got the money because Cleary got injured in origin. Honestly worked out very well for them. Gives him a month or so off to freshen up and gives them $300k in the cap

To be honest I think the bulldogs could do better than us next year.

I’m confused…we would be the ones allowing this, what has it got to do with the NRL if the player, current club and future club are all in agreement?

It’s almost August, there is only a few months of players contracts still to pay. Finding ~150-200k is probably pretty easy for most clubs to bring on a 600k player now if they got the opportunity.

NRL has to sign off on contracts... if TPJ can head to a club this late in the year for chump change then the contract lodged for approval with the NRL is not really in accordance with the salary cap and they can reject it, because it's not inline with TPJ's market value

Similar to Parra wanting to sign Folau on the cheap all those years ago but the NRL rejected it because it was considered way below his market value

How do you know it’s chump change?

You know they would only pay for the remaining salary owed right? This is not a 600+k commitment

If I’m the broncos I say no worries, but the only way we are releasing TPJ is in exchange for Capewell early.
Time for us to stop bending over for other clubs. Same with Milford.
Yeah cape well would love his new club for that. Take away his shot at a premiership to join the spooners for 6 weeks. Great way to start his tenure. I’d probably shoot dd ikin and Walters if they did that to me.

The club is clearly given up on this year and are trying to scrimp and save everywhere they can to scrape up extra funds for next year.

The problem is where is the quality replacements coming from for next year?

Capewell and Reynolds are decent pickups but those two alone aren't going to magically lift us to the top 8, neither are game breakers.

Fullback is a real concern as is gambling on Staggs at 6.

*Edit*
Niu and Cobbo are so raw and rough around the edges at this stage, they just aren't ready. Isaako has proven totally unreliable, any small piece of good play is offset by his stupid errors.

Yeah let’s just keep giving every other club everything they want. Do keep in mind Penrith couldn’t force Capewell to move. It would have to be a mutual agreement, it would be at least worth posing the question.
Let’s not forget the players we have given away early already this year turning up for their new clubs (some of which we are still paying wages to)..
Walsh
Lodge
TPJ potentially
Milford potentially
It’s time for this club to stand up for something.

Could do worse than signing Quinlan. I could see him linking up with Reynolds well and providing energy and experience from the back. He'd be kind of like a Lachlan Coote / Michael Gordon type player for us.

What if Paix is our solution at 9? we have a lot of good ingredients and a nice introduction of old heads.

He 100% could well be, I have been plugging for him all year, his improvement has been substantial and I made the point months ago he has improved Souths. If you go to a game it is obvious when Paix is off/on the field.

His presence and his body shape has changed. He's a hooker now.

But he's now doing not much and hasn't played since round nine- five weeks ago so the pressure on Turpin has subsided. Very hard now for him to get a run.

I would have loved for him to get a run after the Jets game, he was great.
