I think we have enough halves on the books. Reynolds professionalism and the fact it will be his team will change the way some of these boys play.
Wait and see before signing more average players.

I think when the lads aren't playing against each other for spots, and playing together we will see a bug shift as well.

I also think that Dikin will come to pre-season with some best practice systems that the boys will have time to learn.

Also everything on here is an opinion unless of course it is posting a factual article, calm ya bloody farms fellas

It would be a pretty good haul tbf. Still need a fullback and a hooker but it’s a good amount of roster management in 1 season. Hynes still stings though.

Reynolds
Capewell
Gagai
James
Lee
Walters

I’ll leave the 2022 team list to Sproj Sproj

Rightio then:

1. Cobbo/Niu
2. Farnworth
3. Gagai
4. Lee
5. Oates
6. Staggs
7. Reynolds (c)
8. Haas
9. Paix
10. Carrigan
11. Robati
12. Capewell
13. Hetherington

14. Walters
15. Kennedy/James
16. Flegler/Bullemor
17. Riki/Piakura

I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Gagai end up fullback early to be honest and Cobbo coming in as the season progresses with Gags switching to the centres.

i like it ... big improvement, and a much better balanced squad than we had this year

I definitely don't hate it.

It would just require Kevvie to not shag the bench rotations and that is formidable.

I do hope Kevvie reflects on this year. I reckon he got used to Origin; being that bench players don't lose that much value compared to the starting 13.

Happy for them to save a bit of cap for spine options in 23/24

If the plan is to save a bit of cash to throw at BSmith for 2023 and I'd also be in the ear of Harry for 2023 just to see what it might take to get him out of Melbourne with that Mutual Option there.

At fullback we've got Cobbo continuing to develop in ISC or go hard for Walsh, Ponga, Munster, etc. for 23/24

It's looking like Ponga will be a hard one to pry from the knights, and Walsh and Munster are both not available until 2024... so best bet is to lock down Cobbo and let him develop in ISC

Not bad.

I really like Carrigan as a player but I think he really needs to add more dimensions to his game or he risks being the odd man out as I think our pack isn’t properly balanced. Unless Flegler turns into a real enforcer or Haas ball playing goes another level, which either or both could potentially happen. Otherwise his bland reliable work horse qualities won’t be what we require.

Agreed, however there needs to be minimal knee jerk reactions.

If they choose to develop Cobbo. He probably needs to play at FB in 3 to 4 game stints. You can chop and change weekly and ruin his confidence, while managing his aspirations to play first grade permanently.

You also need to protect him from the ongoing strain of first grade.

You've essentially just proven my point, and agreed with my post.

Tyson Gamble & Billy Walters are NSW Cup & QLD Cup journeymen. Albert Kelly peaked in 2013. We're so desperate for an injection of talent in to the spine that we're trying to makeshift Staggs in to one, who is clearly not a fucking Five-Eighth, nor shown any signs of being a Five-Eighth at any point down the road.

How long do you propose we'll have to wait until someone like Ponga, Grant or Munster become available AND are willing to join a perennial bottom 8 side? The only one of that trio I could see leaving their current club any time soon is Munster, and if he does, it'll be after his current contract ends, when he's turning 31 years old.

By saying you 'want to wait' for the right players, you are signalling your willingness to have several more seasons of mediocrity. I'm not in agreeance with that motto anymore, I want to start winning again. We aren't the Broncos of old, we can't just pluck the best players out of wherever they're playing like the good old days. We're a bottom 8 side, have been for a while, and will be for an even longer while unless we start trying something new.

We've taken the 'safe' or 'conservative' option for far too long. We had the option of signings Moses or Bird, a literal choice of the two, and we chose Bird.. why? Because Moses was considered to be a bit of a loose cannon in attack. We had the option to roll out the red carpet and lock in Sam Walker for whatever money it took to keep him, instead we played it conservatively, which allowed the Roosters to swoop in and steal him from beneath our noses. We had the option to match the Warriors offer on Reece Walsh, but didn't, because that's not a safe bet, is it? Our 'marquee' signings for 2022 so far are Reynolds & Capewell.. Safe, conservative. Arthars, Asiata, Copley, Kelly, Levi, Mead, Te'o.. Seriously, could you assemble a list of more boring players if you even tried?

I'm not specifically saying that we HAVE to sign Luke Brooks, but fucking hell, can we at least try something a bit outside the box?

End of rant, I won't bother commenting anymore. I guess I'm the only one on here seriously bothered by the current state of affairs.
Yeah, I want them for 2022, if other clubs can do that sort of deal with contracted players, then we should too. Bring Andrew Gee back if we must, or borrow his accounting books……Happy to play out the season with Kelly.. Signing brooks is more of the same. Which I don’t want. I want Reynolds and some awesome players in the spine.

Sleep tight.

I have a feeling Robati will develop a lot of aggression as he gets accustomed to firsts.
I think Hetherington will bring some ball playing and Capewell has some lateral movement.

I agree that Flegler would need to be more explosive from the pine.

I think two consistent props is OK otherwise.

And I want to play in the NBA, but we're trying to at least be semi-reasonable in here.

If any of those tier 1 players become available we should be throwing everything we have at getting them, I just don't see a scenario where A) They become available in the next year or two and B) They'll willingly sign with us when there's far more appealing teams out there.

I don't mind using next year to find out which young forwards to keep and which ones to punt. We aren't a threat next year but we should be battling for the bottom of the 8, not the wooden spoon. 23 is the key as we need to get a 9 unless Paix explodes.

Once we sign Bellamy it will all fall
In to place….you’ll see 😜

I think we should try and get Manu as a fb, i doubt Roosters can keep him if he is thrown Fullback Money, he is a strike centre but far better when he plays in the 1 or 6. Think he is signed till 2022 though
