Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2021

Didn't it come out that the 10 year report was misleading and it was actually more like a 5 year extension?

I still think it's a massive gamble, especially considering how far Payne has gotten the Broncos thus far and there's no guarantee he can keep that work ethic up.

I still think if we want him long term as a player, we need to reduce his workload.

Yeah I think he could be even more damaging as a prop if we managed how we used him a bit more tactically. Meaning managing his work load so that when he’s on the field he doesn’t have to worry about having anything left in the tank.

That would make a lot more sense, but anyway, no need for management to discuss it so early.. I thought the point of the 5 year deal was so that we didn’t have to think about his contract for a while.

I'd have been happy with Moose back for 12 months on a subsidised contract. According to reports, Kevvie wants good players who are good citizens, yet he is constantly praising Haas to the hilt despite the fact he's done things off the field way worse than Moose. I thinks its a great stance by the club to basically have a no dickheads policy, but i feel we have some double standards because our best player happens to have been a magnet for trouble.

Haas off field incidents havent have nothing to do with how he is around his team mates. Haas' off field incidents havent even really been that bad compared to most.

Haas is well loved amongst his teammates, but a guy like McGuire who from all accounts loves to haze and give people shit is not well tolerated.

I don't see a double standard at all. One gels well with the team, the other has a history of being a nuisance to his teammates.

So is it your opinion that Turpin has played better this year than Levi has the last couple of weeks?

He's a better 80 minute defender, no doubt about it

They're trying to avoid another David Fifita situation. They'll sign him up before he hits the market so they'll have some security.

Of course it would be double standards. We basically got rid of Pangai for ill discipline on the field and off the field troubles, and lets be honest, he didnt really do anything off the field as bad as Haas did. You really dont think his threatening women, threatening police isnt bad? Or him driving unlicensed and on his phone isnt bad? You have to be kidding. The NRL will probably sit him down as it is anyway if he has another incident. If we are serious about having good people at the club, he wouldnt leave DD with any choice but to get rid of him tbh.

You would think Payne with his family background would know the damage driving dangerously would cause as well. Great player, but it seems when the footy finishes he becomes a deadset idiot.

As for Moose, he's nowhere near as bad as he got made out to be. He certainley isnt on the same level as Parker or Hodges were.

His workload is far more reasonable this year. I think this weekend was the smartest I’ve seen him used. Give him a break before half time and bring him back on with 25-30 to go.

I think early on we over worked him, but its been better than it was last year.

Are we able to talk to both grant and smith as of nov 1?

So when we lost Fifita wasn’t the criticism ‘why did we wait until he was off-contract’ now with Haas and it is all ‘what’s the rush?’.

Its probably more proactive to talk to him now, but at the same time, its not as urgent as Fifita was.

Not good, but It does sound bad when you phrase it like that. It's very easy to make something sound worse than it is by being reductive.

If we're going by off field dramas then McGuire > Haas.

If we're going more welcomed by his team Haas > McGuire

Pangais situation was in peak covid panic time. So there was going to be external pressure on that no matter what.

Dickheads by different standards. The team is going in such a good direction that McGuire might just upset the comradery that seems apparant now. That's the kind of dickhead this team wants to avoid.

Can’t really disagree more with this entire post. Cobbo has shown quite little in first grade, and he was marking up against an average 5/8 playing out of position last week, and was contained easily. I’m not saying he won’t be a gun, but he is being overhyped purely because he looks like a young Latrell.
Manu has dominated every time he has played fullback and 6, and is easily the games best centre. He is worth top tier fullback money, which is 700-900k. There’s not many fullbacks I’d take ahead of him as a signing option.
Manu is a good player, no one is debating that. I’m also not claiming Cobbo is the next anyone, I just like what I see so far. I think he will develop into something rather special, and quickly. Of course, I could be wrong.

But my point still stands, Manu hasn’t proven he is a $1million a season fullback because the reality is, he’s barely played it. When he has played 1, he’s done so in a team full of good players that know their roles. It’s easier to look classy in a classy team. It’d be good to see him perform consistently at 1 in a shit team (but not ours) before you claim he’s one of the best fullbacks running around.

I believe signing him for $1million a season to play fullback is simply foolish. If we aren’t happy to develop Cobbo (or someone else), let the Titans take the Manu gamble and we can take Brimson off their hands. He’s a proven fullback in a much weaker team who will come for a lot less than $1mil a season. Then we could also afford a better than average 9 to complement our roster and balance our team.

RTS is an example looked a gun at 1 at the roosters went to the warriors still a gun but with less effect

Was haas even arrested for his last incident?
