Robson's try was fair. There's no such thing as having to run 10m, the referee just mis-spoke. Robson was more than 10m from the catch (and was "passive" anyway), and was put onside by Nanai catching the ball.

Fucking what a banger of a finish.

10 minutes to go and down by 14. Cowboys didn't look like they were gonna score then BAM BAM BAM.

speaking of shit refs ... there was a farcical situation in the Cowboys game where Sutton called for a Cowboys Captains challenge then had to reverse himself because the Cowboys captain Chad Townsend didn't actually call for or want a captains challenge

Hardly farcical, the link you posted explains it pretty clearly.

Remember when Gillett was pinged for being offside in Game 3 2015 and Inglis had to go 10 metres before he was able to get involved?

Nanai catching the ball doesn't put Robson onside. Only way that does is if Nanai was the one that kicked the ball. There have been a lot of tries denied over the years when an offside player receives a pass from a player that caught the ball despite being more than 10 metres away from when the ball was caught.

Players are only passive if they don't have an influence on the game. He scored the try.

It was a rubbish call.

Robson was outside 10m anyway, so he was onside.

So was Gillett. It doesn't matter, he's still offside. You can't encroach within 10 metres of the play from an offside position, but you're still offside even if you are.

but in front of the kicker ... and only the kicker can run him back on side.

being outside the 10m would only have come into it if Manly had got the ball

It still kind of is. Surely the ref refers to the captain before making the call. It's not like he doesn't know who the captain is, he speaks to them before the game.

It wasn't a good look.

Read the article. He thought Tom Dearden was Townsend.

They have always ruled it that way. If you are 10m from the 'contest' and your team regathers the ball you can join in the play.

Also here's the kicker (Red) running him onside (Green).
