Titans enter the chat 'hold my beer'
Surely the Dolphins give Haas some strong consideration, if he's available.

They can have Haas if they promise to stay away from Herbie.
I don't think Wayne is dumb enough to overspend on a prop. He's got the experience he needs up front. Titans, you'd think should have learnt their lesson after Taylor, Hayne and Fifita, but they are pretty fucking dumb. They'd be better off sorting out their spine. They are basically us two years ago. Their entire roster needs an enema.

I’m trying to think of any team would benefit from paying Payne $1m a year. The only one I think it would be worthwhile for us the Tigers, who’s fan are desperately needing some positive news and who need to turn their image around as a club that players want to go to.

The Warriors and Knights could probably consider it too for similar reasons.

If you were having to rebuild your pack from scratch in 2023, you wouldn't do it around Payne Haas. You'd build it around Pat Carrigan and a veteran like Bromwich. Wayne really fucked up by not landing Patty.

id honestly try move fifita on and throw truck loads of cash at cook if i were the tits

meady meady announced retirement effective immediately:

One of rugby leagues good guys who should be proud of all he’s achieved.

I don’t care what anyone says, this is imo the greatest NRL try of all time:

I also suspect the effective immediately aspect relates to getting Walsh early, if that’s the case - finishing his career as selflessly as he lived it. Champion

If payne were to leave at the end of this year, and patty moves to prop With a preseason at 13, I think a hetherington/gamble lock combination could be a real point of attack/difference for us.

Maybe hetherington for 50min, gamble 30min or there abouts?

Although there are locks that can ball play, they are not able to throw the passes Gamble can. Looking at JP's try last week, no other 13 is able to throw that double cut out pass to staggs that led to that try.
It could work out a big difference doing that.
If we are running the same hooker rotation of Walters/Paix I'd look at bringing Gamble on the same time as Paix.
Having Gamble come on will give more time to Adam and free up Mam and also Walsh. Will also open up more doors for a fresh Paix out of 9.
Kobe could fall into the front row rotation and be used in the last 10 if needed.

Honestly, I kind of hope Walsh isn't coming early. I've mostly been anti-Niu since he first started, but he's definitely kept surprising me with his development. I think Walsh has more upside, but they are both still more or less rookies, I'd give Niu more time to prove himself and let them fight it out during the offseason.

Getting Reece early is only going to benefit us for next season, the quicker we get him here the quicker he gets out of the Warriors system and into ours where he can work with Darius like TMM has.
If he went to Melbourne for the remainder of the season that would help his development aswell working with Slater and Papenhazen but that won't happen as Melbourne is further away from his kid.

Nah **** the storm, those pricks getting into his ear to play as a half for them after Munster probably leaves, no thanks!

The other benefit to this line-up would be, if the intention is to run a halves pairing of mam and walsh and have cobbo move to fullback after Reynolds retires, having gamble at 13 could help organise the middle of the field and assist with that game management.

i would love to see that spine trialled. Not sure if they’d win at this age but it would be great to watch.

Corey Oates' manager George Mimis is talking to the club about extending Corey's contract by two years:

“Corey has spent a decade with the Broncos and would like to be a one-club player. We are in ongoing discussions with the Broncos as we speak and hope to have a mutually acceptable outcome soon.”

Corey Oates:

“I thought I was nearly done, not just with the Broncos but footy in general. That’s how I was feeling and it’s not a good feeling to have."
"A lot of hard work went into getting back. I wasn’t enjoying the game. It’s been a long few years. When nothing works, your body starts to ache, click and crack every day … it’s not enjoyable. I wasn’t doing the extras and work I should have been doing. I just wanted to get back to enjoying footy again and it was good to get the reward of that Queensland jumper.”
“I’ve always said I wanted to stay. This is my 10th year at the Broncos but I feel really good about myself and the body. I need to keep looking after myself and hopefully I can last a lot longer. I am enjoying my footy again.”

Adam Reynolds:

“Corey has been awesome for us. I hate to admit it but he has probably become my best mate at the Broncos. We chew each other’s ears off and he is a bit of a pest like myself. When I signed with the Broncos, I knew what Corey was capable of. He wasn’t playing his best last year but he has worked his butt off and it’s great to see him fight his way back.”
