Here's an example of a very late tackle that wasn't even pinged. And no one complained.
I don't think anyone has ever called Billy a "grub." Sometimes shit just happens when you've already committed.
You might argue in this case Billy wasn't leading with his shoulder, so it's not so brutal. But, on the other hand, in this position he can see where he's going. He completed this tackle.
All I'm saying is these cases can be highly individual and subjective. Sometimes you think the player doing it is a grub and he doesn't care that it's late. But if you run with that logic in a tribunal you have your finger on the scales and someone is going to call it biased.
That's why I think we just accept whatever penalty he gets and understand why it's not easy to look consistent on these borderline infringements. The harder pill to swallow for the player charged is when it's like Carrigan's hip drop which was either 5 weeks or nothing.
