Billy was arguably top 3 on ground, he was absolutely excellent. Just about everyone bar Palasia was very good and that is amazing but given how much vitriol Billy gets, I'm just highlighting in from the rooftops because he won't get the plaudits he deserves after how good he was last night.
He was good and I’m pretty sure everyone has said as much but you are over blowing his efforts which will only force people to offer up more realistic assessments of his performance which will cause the defenders to come out and things will escalate again. Why can’t we just say he was good and move on? Top 3 is not a respectable claim.

Also he didn’t run for 100m according to the NRL app. His quick tap was clever for multiple reasons though, just a shame Walsh cramped up.

Can we stop this rubbish that Walters can't coach now? This isn't the 80s. A coach isn't just a coach anymore. He needs to manage a team and get the best out of his players. The proof is in the pudding the last 2 years, they've all improved. And what I really like is how all the players are saying how they want to play for him. That's more important than any other attribute for an nrl coach.

Also, billy walters hasn't he proved everyone wrong. He is certainly warranting his selection. If it wasn't for his last name I'm sure he would have scored more broncoshq MoM points too. Not the answer but certainly not a problem...

But this is the thing I'm most happy about. Jesse arthurs and taupau. Add them to the list. Hosking, gamble, temaire martin, jensen. These guys were either battlers, finished, or just plain not upto nrl standards according to other clubs. The Broncos revitalised their careers. I don't give a shit what anyone else on here says about us not deserving credit for it. This will serve us well for YEARS to come. It will help in negotiations for some gap fillers and help us pick up players cheaper.

Shout out to our backs last night as well:

Walsh - 194m!
Arthars - 117m
Staggs - 122m
Farnworth - 164m
Cobbo - 234m!

ALL of them ran over 10m a run and on top of Haas and Carrigan, that right there is what is giving us the opportunities we have to throw our weapons at sides.

Interestingly, Capewell also ran over 100m. Jensen and Taupau also over 100m, Jensen in particular is an absolute gem of a signing for us. He is as good as anyone not named Haas, JFH or any other big name. He is massive value for money.

Don't want to be negative but Palasia only ran for 42m and with one of the slowest play the ball speeds for our forwards and 14 tackles with 3 misses and an equal team high 3 errors. Just not seeing what he brings that Hetherington doesn't or Piakura couldn't if we gave him a shot earlier.
Yeah I'm starting to think that the impatience we have in attack is primarily because of how often we're in good field position to attack from.

We've had to grind it out against Penrith and take our opportunities when presented, but against dragons we were in position a lot to put something on and squandered it.

Most games our forwards and backs are just rolling through the opposition and winning field position. If you combine that with strong goal line defence, then you will be presented with a lot of attacking opportunities.

You don't mind making errors in attack compared to errors in get out sets, and that's kind of where we sit at the moment... teams can't really keep with us in a grind so the majority of our possession is in attacking spots and when you're taking risks like we do in attack you will make errors. The positive is that we're not making errors in get out sets and when teams do try to grind with us.

I think defensively, he's one of the best halves out there as well. It's too early for him and he isn't unseating Munster of course but he will be an origin player.
In the future I think he'd be a good shout on the bench... he's solid as **** in defence and his main attacking threat is support play and running.

I still think that's a way off yet though... he's got to find a better balance in all out attack vs solid setup plays, but that will come with experience.

I'd like to see his combination with Capewell improve though... he runs good lines, but it seems like Ezra gets caught in two minds when going to him and rarely seems to give him good ball... other than kicking grubbers through for him.

would think it might make it easier to get haas to extend given how we have started the year seems to look to be enjoying it

While I have been consistent in saying I think he will leave, if he does stay, I highly doubt it will be before he becomes a free agent, his agent will want to know what other teams are officially offering.

Of course I want to be proven wrong.

might be a bit like hynes waiting to see a final number on what the cap will be

Seriously…lets make the following pages a “No Billy Hate”. He was good. By good I mean a solid 5/10.
Facts:
He won’t ever be a Harry Grant. However, last few weeks and dare I say this year, he has been decent. He lacks the skill and at 28 or whatever he is, he won’t ever get better. His effort level cannot ever be questioned.
Don’t get me wrong, I was definitely one of the people piling on and calling him “daddy’s boy”. But all in all, he has played his part along with Paix. We need them both to allow Mozer to develop into an 80min NRL hooker.
So here’s to Billy 🍻 ❤️

100%!

I think Billys strength is his effort and composure. We don't need a livewire dummy half when you have a livewire 1 and 6. Defend well, get the ball out to who needs it quickly and pick your times to run. I'm liking some of his dummy half kicks this year so far as well.

Imagine your coach said, “I support you” and in the same breath he says “We’re so shit, the bye might beat us”

Imagine if we had Ben Hunt at hooker. Sorry to spring that on you so close to bedtime.
We would be unstoppable. In a shit team Hunt is still an absolute gun. He’s like Reynolds. He’s getting better and better with age. If he was wearing our 9 we would be a serious premiership contender.
I would love to see Api in our 9 too. What he could do with our pack would be scary.

One thing this team needs to learn is the wrap around play on the opponents goal line. A half runs across field and throws the ball flat to a forward who hits the defensive line (sucking in players) then spins and passes back to the half who keeps running across field. The Roosters did it a bunch of times against the eels and it was pretty effective. I saw Reynolds attempt it last night but whoever took the hitup never passed it back to him.
