NOT CROSS FORUM NRL 2023 Round 12 Discussion

@JayPee,

Do you think this spine would be worth a shot (I know it pretty much can't happen because of Chester's injury but):

1. Chester (got another kid who can slot in there in the mean time? Throw Holmes back there?)
6. Dearden
7. Drinkwater
9. Robson

14. No idea but not Granville
Drinkwater isn't good enough to be a controlling halfback plus he stinks defensively. Not many options at all.

That contract extension for Payten until 2026 looks an extremely poor piece of business from the cowboys. I can see them having a Hook MK2 situation with him if he cant turn it around soon. He was poor in his first year, excellent last year but its fallen off a cliff again for them.

Shame really.
Somethings off for sure

I reckon he's lost the squad. He probably is much like Madge in that he whips them too hard and punishes them severely when they lose.

Sheens absolutely blasted the officials and bunker inconsistencies in the presser after thrashing the cows btw. Great watch. Glad this shit gets called out. The more the better.
He should be careful not to poke the bear.
Tigpies got plenty let go themselves . Klemmer never plays the ball properly NAS mk2.

Just in case anyone missed it

There could be a case of that being a send off not just a sin bin.

I'm glad someone out there produces these.

You get tired of annesley saying that refs rule every team the same and what an outrage to suggest otherwise....

and bleat number two: 'Players make mistakes tooooooo'

Bennett has said that Kaufusi should only get a fine (if he even gets charged) for his swinging arm, because Luai only got a fine for touching an official.

Bennett said:

“Wasn’t there a guy the other night who was an Origin player (who) touched a match official?”

“Was there a guy, was that someone, was he an Origin player? He will be playing Origin next week, he got a fine didn’t he?

“Yeah… well if you look (at that) I think you’ve got a real good chance of getting a fine or not guilty.

“I would say for that (a fine is sufficient), even if he is charged.”

I still find it nuts that Reynolds gets a $1,000 fine for contrary conduct for saying "Bullshit, it was" and causing Atkins to look like a fuckwit while Luai gets the same grade and a $1,500 fine for actually touching the touch judge. Panthers fans can never complain about being called a protected species ever again.

Well he's dead fucking right, and it's great that he's stuck it to the NSWRL in a way that is not a direct attack of the refereeing (and therefore can't be censored). It's a fucking joke, and even though we know Kaufusi is going to be getting a few weeks out, the fact that Luai will be free to play will be like a pimple on the NSWRL's face that everyone can see but no one will have the guts to talk about.

Also, it probably annoyed a lot of people, but Voss calling out NAS's (lack of) play-the-balls was a fucking riot. Just another blatant inconsistency that the refs just turn a blind eye to. Even since they relaxed the "crackdown" and said "it's okay if it doesn't touch the foot, as long as it is a genuine attempt", there is no way you can look at any of his PTB's and say "yeah he tried".

Voss did point out that he's not the only one, that plenty of others are getting away with it, but there was not one single play-the-ball by him that could be considered close to regulation. Highlighting it for the masses to see, while nothing is done to penalise it, is just another blight on the game's administration.

Speaking of Luai and his refs push, isn't it also against the rules for the ref to touch players as well? I swear I see that at least once a game.

We all know that refs have tip sheets on certain players, how on Earth is NAS's not the length of Bass Straight?

I mean I can tell you off the top of my head:
- Cheap shot merchant
- Chronic diver
- Uses elbows and knees regularly
- Never plays the ball with his foor
- Rarely onside
- Instigates scuffles
- Dog shots everywhere
- Regular shoulders to the head

All cancelled out by:

- Plays for the storm

But just like everyone watching from home knows that Feldt is going to try to milk a penalty on every carry, everyone knows that Luai is going to push one of the markers out of the way, JWH is going to find a way to drop an elbow in to someone's face (with or without the ball), and Mitchell is going to dog shot someone because they tackled him. There is no way the ref's don't know this unless they genuinely do not watch games and live in a bubble where the Refs spoon-feed them only the information that the NRL wants them to act on.

The NAS play the ball is even more baffling because it is a huge benefit to play it how he does.

By just tunnel ball clawing the ball backwards with no attempt at striking the ball, he doesn't have to steady himself properly and its just a much quicker play the ball.

He can also be driving forward into the markers as he just claws it backwards.

Its a mess, but storm so nothing to see here.

The riff get away with the pretend play the ball heaps as well not to mention the very late 3rd man pile on tackle, mostly by Yeo, who doesn't peel off first which they do regardless of dominance or not.

Been playing that way for 3 years so it won't stop anytime soon.
Who cheats best wins in today's NRL.

I dont have any dramas with Kafusi being banned, but i'm still a bit puzzled Luai isnt banned when others have been. As usual, all we want is a bit of consistency and we dont get it.

About 55 seconds in is the Thaiday incident. If thats a weeks ban, so is Luai.
