OFFICIAL Patrick Carrigan re-signs

Where does all the Carrigan hate stem from? He was literally 1 of like 3 actually putting in week in week out in the 2019 season.
It isn't hate that's coming for Carrigan and no one can judge how much effort his gives week in and out.
Carrigan has just fell down the pecking order in regards to other players in our squad. Younger players we have, do have higher ceiling in regards to skills and talents.
Carrigan also is too good of a player to have sitting on the bench and especially in Qcup. This is most likely his best option for his career.

How has he fallen down the pecking order? He has been a regular starter.

Can you please quote “what he wants”?

Come on man, obviously no one knows for sure, this is the same with every discussion. All we can on is reports (and I am as critical of the accuracy of these as anyone else). It is a good discussion to have based around 'suggested' asking price. But if we run around saying suggested as much as everyone says allegedly, it becomes a bit monotonous.

I wouldn't say 450k a year is star money these days. We are paying Riki apparently 300k plus and he's done bugger all really yet to warrant that.
I mean Riki already is making 40+ tackles a game and is improving week to week. When I compare him to a player like Nikora, who came on strong and people seem to rate highly, I’d say that Riki had a better season this year and has far more upside.

It’s also a waste of time. You guys keep carrying on about the $ with nothing to back you up. From what I can see is it’s about the years, but none of us knows.

And so what if it is a waste of time? If people want to discuss it, there is no problem there, that is what a forum is about, otherwise there isn't much discussion going on about anything.

I'm not saying he doesnt have a lot of potential, but he hasnt really done a great deal in the scheme of things yet. He started off well, fell away i felt and was pretty ordinary for a while then finished the year ok, which is exactly what i'd expect from a younger forward.

Look, just to add to my previous reply, I obviously have the utmost respect for you. I’ve stood up for you regarding the bullshit media speculation/personal attacks from McHunt. I just expected better than the same bullshit media speculation of slandering a player based on non-educated opinion. That’s it, really.

Slander? Come on man, that's a massive stretch. And you well know I am not easily offended, and I am not here, not even really sure how we got on to this debate.

I think we can all agree though that my opinion is certainly non-educated!

I think he's comfortably worth that tbh in the current market. The injury is a bit of an issue, but we paid a bloke with a bad injury and a questionable off field reputation a hell of a lot more on a longer contract so it's not like the club could use that as an excuse to not give him a decent deal.
That was with bad club management yr talking about woffie, players being poorly signed.
Now that Donaghy is here, Wolfie (sorry, I mean Carrigan) won't be offered the deal he wants. There are too many good, superior forwards in the team already.
Forwards that can CATCH, forwards that can TACKLE, forwards with PACE and forwards that aren't perma INJURED.
I'm sure he's a nice fella, but that doesn't make a good NRL forward.

Great post. If we want to start rebuilding our culture, guys like Carrigan are the ones that we should be rewarding, because that sets the standard that we want. Show good, honest players that they can come to Brisbane, work hard, stay out of trouble, and get rewarded, and we'll have a really solid foundation to build on. Then you add in some (preferably clean-skin) x-factor guys, and you got yourself a stew.

It's a shame our x-factor guys are far from clean-skins, because it throws this whole plan out...
I'm starting to get the impression that when you, wolfie and the like say "clean skin", you just mean something else?

Because it's nothing more than a rumour. So it gets moved to the rumour thread.

In fact, I would like to know where this rumour came from because no one is reporting it.
Your response has aged poorly, considering the news that the Broncos don't want him on the money he's after, hence no contract.

wolfie ... 500k for Carrigan? YIKES.
Gee, I wonder if Grant or Smith might be ten times better for the squad at a fraction more?
