Josh McGuire - I would LOVE to see him have a few nrl games next year.

Hes an NYC prop.

Plays 80 mins, has plenty of runs and metres in him, tackle count always over 20, breaks the line quite often and is good for an offload - not to mention scoring 7 tries this year (pretty good for a prop).

This kid will be groomed - maybe not see him in 09 but he will be here in the future.

Real mongrel in him too - moulded like a young webcke.

In one game this year he had 19 runs for 181 metres.
His top tackle count in an individual game is 37
and in another game he made 11 tackle breaks.

Why? Wouldn't it mean that we were potentially the 2nd best team in the comp?

Second or Last, if you don't come up with the choccies in the end who cares?

What would be your 2009 line up??

Mine would be:

1. Hunt
2. Yow Yeh/Beale
3. Michaels
4. Hodges
5. Folau
6. Lockyer
7. Wallace
8. Thaiday
9. Gorrell/Marsh/McCullough
10. Kenny
11. Parker
12. Setu
13. Stagg

14. Taylor
15. Teo
16. Gorrell/Marsh/McCullough
17. Palmer Wapau (NOT CLINTON OR SIMS!)

I think you're being harsh on Clinton...though Sims I can take or leave. He's another Dane Carlaw, but more mistake prone.

I'd go:

1. Hunt
2. Yow Yeh
3. Michaels
4. Hodges
5. Folau
6. Lockyer (c)
7. Wallace
8. Clinton
9. Marsh
10. Kenny
11. Parker
12. Thaiday
13. Setu

14. Taylor
15. Stagg (I wouldn't have picked him 4 weeks ago but he stepped up and was great off the bench)
16. Te'o
17. Wapau

Variations:
- Gorrell or McCullough to the bench in place of Stagg
- Sims or Ah Mau to get a shot at the 17 or 14 jersey
- Taylor to be prepared to wear the 8 full time, that would mean Clinton to bench

Kenny deserves to hold the Number 10 jersey for the season if he can continue his form of 2008.

Don't forget these 2 key signings:
Forwards coach: Shane Webcke
Halves coach: Allan Langer
2 Awesome club men that command respect and awe from the players.

Yeah, and i think that 2 players in particular will benefit by having these 2 guys around the club full time.

Peter Wallace and Dave Taylor. I think Taylor really missed having an experienced prop like Webcke or Civoniceva around the club this year. and I think that with Wallace learning of a guy like Alfie will take his game to the next level.

its looking good icon_thumbs_u

The signing of T'eo makes no sense at all to me!! we still have 3 locks that we are trying to squeeze in one side.

A couple of notable omissions in your squad. You think they are going to be sacked?

I think it's a strong possibility given Ivan's attitude to overindulgence in alcohol vs committment to the team.

How will Israel fare at left centre, though? We know he's pretty fragile as a left winger... Hopefully with an offseason's preperations behind him he'll slot in there just fine.

That's why I'd have Folau at right wing. His side of the field. He's great under the high ball, whereas Hodges is hopeless under the high ball. Complement eachother nicely, and the outside defence will be shitting themselves everytime the ball goes their way.
