My take on what has happened

Karmichael Hunt offered himself to the Broncos at a reduced rate which the board was okay with but Hook said no.
They are not happy with Macca's progression and expected him to be a much better player now than he is so they are now putting a lot of work into Granville but obviously going hard after Smith

Lets just say a little birdy flew past

If that truly is the case, Hook is an idiot. Hunt would be good at anything below $700k IMO.

All depends on what the reduced rate is based on... if it is based on his current AFL wage (reportedly around $1 million a season) then the reduced rate could still be over 700k, personally I don't see khunt taking a massive pay cut to come back to league.

If this is the case it sounds like griffin is preparing excuses already. He knows with the roster now assembled we should do considerably better next year. This could just be my cynical view on griffin but I can hear it already. "We had put so much development in to macca and had to start again" "Granville is finding his feet still" etc etc

Oh God, can you imagine if over time it becomes apparent that Hook is just Ricky Stuart v2? Though to be fair, he rarely made excuses, didn't blame anybody (except Dodds that time, and even then iI took it as a backhanded complement to the team that if it wasn't for one error they were in with a chance of a win), and was never a sore loser.

Can't say I've heard anything, I know he had surgery in the off-season though.

His had surgery but definitely haven't heard his out for any real extended time frame, he was carrying the injury while playing in the NRL and if they felt it was something they needed to address for his longterm career they wouldn't have had him playing.
