2014 Broncos Season

How good does this look for next season:

1. Barba
2. Vidot
3. Reed
4. Copley/ Hodges later
5. JYY
6. Milford
7. Hunt
8. McGuire
9. Smith (c)
10. Hannant
11. Glenn
12. Gillett
13. Parker

14. Hala
15. Thaiday
16. Kennedy
17. Oates

I doubt Smith will be at the club next season, isnt he signed for next season still?

LOL fair enough

Otherwise a pretty fine looking side there mate.

Trying to fit in Glenn, Gillett, Friday and Oates in the 2nd row is tough. I wish Thaiday would seriously just convert to a front rower. I don't care if he's "better" in the 2nd row, he hasn't been consistently good there in years and is too fat, lazy and one dimensional to stay there IMO.

I know what you mean Alec but it won't happen unless injuries force it to, personally I'd rather see us go with a more mobile backrow of Glenn, Gillett and Parker and then having Oates off the bench as the backrow interchange if his not playing in the backs. I really really hope Thaiday puts in bigtime in the off season, I don't want to see another subpar performance from our captain 3 seasons in a row regardless of where he plays, its been used as an excuse for too long.

The real concern with season 2014 is if the Broncos persist with the slow hit up focused attacking approach and containment defensive approach of season 2013. The Broncos forward pack is too physically small to implement either valid approach effectively. A focus on quick play the balls in attack and aggressive forward moving defence is a must if the team want to be competitive with their current forward pack.

Re: Offseason 2013/14

Totally agree except for fullback. I think they would be crazy not to try barba in at 5/8. With his running ability and the way he can read the game .he is such a handful when he runs at the line and there's no point having great centres and wings if they aren't seeing enough quality ball and barba got the skill to make that happen. Insert Hoffman into a play involving hunt, barba,hodges/McCullough in a similar fashion to the way the storm and manly have with there 6,7 &5/9 for the past 6years and you've got a winning team.

Re: [Official] - Milford signs with Broncos

Hoffman isn't right for fullback but he's sure as heck right for the halves! That's great thinking.

Re: [Official] - Milford signs with Broncos

Nothing really new in that article.. sounds like Jordan Kahu is a real possibility of being given first crack at Five-Eighth though.. I won't completely mock it until I see it in action, but in my opinion I'd rather Strasser.

Re: [Official] - Milford signs with Broncos

That article should be posted in the halves 2014 thread. I would like to see Strasser get a shot in the trials and if he does well give him a first-grade spot.

Yeah exactly. "Hmmm he's play making isn't good enough for a fullback, let's stick him in the halves?!?"

He defended extremely well tonight, was actually proud
Last season he was lazy and unfit. He looked so much fitter and he was cutting the kiwis in half. His tackle on SBW was the best haha. Let's hope he doesn't get back to Aus and eat 5000000 meat pies

Agree with you both. Hopefully we see this from thaiday next year
