2014 Broncos Season

It's the annual from last year actually not this year. It's basically 2013 in review with reports from every game and what the end of year Bronco edition usually is. Call me a bit feminine but the family album photos of their wives, girlfriends, newborns is one of my favourite parts. It also had a Corey Parker poster which I'm taping up in my room soon.

Any movement in the predicted 2014 Round 1 team based on tonights game? I hate to say it, but I can't see JYY being a first-grade player this season, hopefully a season or two of solid rehab and QLD cup has him forcing his way back into the team!

1 - Ben Barba
2 - Josh Hoffman
3 - Jack Reed
4 - Dale Copley
5 - Jordan Kahu*
6 - Zach Strasser
7 - Ben Hunt
8 - Ben Hannant
9 - Andrew McCullough
10 - Josh McGuire
11 - Matt Gillett
12 - Sam Thaiday
13 - Corey Parker

14 - Jake Granville
15 - Alex Glenn
16 - Martin Kennedy
17 - Todd Lowrie

* Pending his leg injury, if he's injured I'd say Vidot or Maranta will slot onto the wing

I agree, but I don't see Kahu coming back from the ACL any time soon. Oates, Vidot, Mills then Maranta for mine.

He hasn't been diagnosed with any injury so far.. so you can't really rule him out already. And we know how much Hook loves Maranta, I can't see him picking Oates, Vidot or Mills over his love child.

He would have picked Oates over Maranta last season and he never had the opportunity with Vidot and Mills. Surely the whole reason the were recruited was as possible first grade players which very much places them in the mix with Maranta for a wing spot.

Griffin is fighting for his job, if Vidot, Oates and Mills are better options than Maranta he will pick them.

This...

In fact the only reason Hook persisted with Maranta so long was due to our injury crisis in the backline.

I remember one game towards the end of last year where we had 3 back rowers in the backline with Hoffman and Maranta, simply because we had no one else to pick in the backs.

Right centre and 5/8th are the two in question

Right now 5/8th seems to be between Nikorima and Strasser

Right Centre I can see Hook picking stagg as defence specilaist although out wide you need speed to defend speed and he bring nothing to attack to I fear that move

I reckon it comes down to two options, copley and Oates

Love copley I want him to be our centre in the future but imagine Oates at centre. He is fast, strong, good in the air and good offloading skills with the tackling technique of a second rower (a broncos 2nd rower technique true but its there) we need attack and and he would have his hands on the ball more often

Also he played alot of u20's at centre, but just depends on that injury of his

From what is said around the traps i dont think Oates will be ready for the start of the season but Copley is predominately a left centre and his step suits this position. Maybe Reed will start at right centre as does not appear to have any traits that would seperate right or left centre.
You would have thought if Hook was looking at Copley for right centre then he would have trialled there

You could be right there, Reed is a right centre, he debuted on the right and every time hodges was out in 2011 they shifted him back

Has anyone seen copely play at centre, is he someone to get excited about?

Was he good in the trial, is he a future rep player?

In u20's he wasn't a superstar but he knew his way to the tryline and should not be underestimated by the defence, he was plesently solid and from what i heard he portrayed that in the trials

Only thing in regards to moving reed is he has a great combination with hoffy

wouldnt be surprised hoffman starts at centre anyway
