2014 Broncos Season

Granted Lockyer was throwing the passes but there were some highlights of them chiming in together well. People are harsh on Copley, back then he was only starting out hard to keep up. Only real sitter that was dropped I remember was lockyers last game against the dragons and even then it was such a sweet pass from Lockyer no one saw it coming. However next try in that game was a reed Copley combo

Copley was so bad with his hands in 2011 that Reed refused to pass it to him several times, even with the line wide open.

I think it was purely a confidence thing ....as the more he (Copley) played the better he become. IMO he was just about to hit his straps when he started this horrible run of injuries he's been on.

Copley is a solid first grader and does have potential but I feel that Gagai if he gets his head right will be in front of him for an Origin jumper.

I think Gagai's chances of playing Origin in the near future are gone, even if he does get his head right. Unless Copley fails big time and doesn't impress, he will be ahead of him. Gagai is pretty much screwed for now. Although, it doesn't really matter. Chambers is ahead of all of them.

While I think Copley is a long shot for origin this year it will all come down to form as simple as that. No one is an incumbent for hodgo or Tate's spots (assuming they aren't going around again) so whoever is playing the best in the first half of the season will get the gig

Former Test star Ben Hannant headlines the list of players going back to the state leagues for his first hit out of 2014, the 29-year-old veteran of six Tests and 12 Origins heading out to Ipswich to play against Burleigh.

Centre Jack Reed and prop Josh McGuire will make their comebacks from shoulder reconstructions playing for Norths against Redcliffe in a match that will feature up to nine Broncos.

Jharal Yow Yeh will continue his long comeback trail when he returns to the Devils where he will be joined by Francis Molo and Lachlan Maranta.

They will come up against new recruit Daniel Vidot, while young halfback Cameron Cullen, prop Dave Hala and Jon Green will run out for the Redcliffe Dolphins.

Broncos general manager of football operations Andrew Gee said it was crucial to get the full squad access to senior football this week before Brisbane whittle their squad down for the final trial in Dunedin against the Warriors next week.

Whoa up ......Copley is a long way from Origin!

If Gagai continues to develop the way he has so far, IMO he will get a 2nd chance at the squad in 2015

If he plays well I think he has as best a chance of anybody else, including Chambers. Chambers has in no way locked in the centre spot. All I'm saying is without Hodges and Gagai who was a definite starter the chance is there for him to step up, play well and at least get a look in for playing Origin, if his form warrants selection and I feel the same way about Vidot. By May 28 the Broncos will have won 11 from 11 so the whole team will be looking great :P

dont mean to sound like the negative one in all this because i generally am optimistic about all things brisbane,, but i would be prepared to put money on copley being nowhere near the queensland backline in the next 2 years,, he may be a good player at his best but i think some people are looking at it through bronco vision haha. any other teams supporters would laugh their asses off at the notion of him being at origin level

That's what everyone thought about Darius Boyd.

While i think you are right and he will not be there within two years, the Qld selectors have had him at the emerging origin squad so he is in their sights long term as an option.
Still does not mean he will make it

No one knows what Copley will play like yet.

I'd say he has the talent to make origin, but he needs to have really good form right from round 1 to be considered. I hope he makes it, you can never have enough quality players.

but who's to say he will even be in our round 1 team ? it may be hard to crack with vidot and mills now. i think vidot may get the nod ahead of copley to be honest. it will be even harder once hodgo gets back. and theres also jharal to consider,, with a couple more trials under his belt you never know,, he will be pushing damn hard for a round 1 return

For him to be in origin contention he'd have to be playing well enough to get a starting team spot.

I'm sorry but Copley and Origin should never be mentioned in the same sentence. It will never happen nor would it even be considered.

I think you're right, Vidot will get the thumbs up before Copley.

I am not so sure they'll be considering Jharal off the bat, he's behind the pace by many accounts. He might get back! :D *fingers crossed*'

I would like to see what you have seen in him to demonstrate he has that type of class in him. Origin jumpers aren't just handed out willy nilly these days. Maybe back in the day when you were a winger running off a great Broncos back line would you get a chance but the days of great Broncos teams have been gone for 7 years.
