2014 Halves Pairing

Can't wait to find out what round he'll bring out another good grubber.

He actually had a solid grubber in the Anzac Test last year if I remember correctly. Nearly fell out of my chair. Didn't lead to a try fortunately (from an Australian perspective at least).

If Hoffman is going to prove the critics wrong about his selection, it will have to happen against a severely depleted Bulldogs side. He probably won't get a better chance and neither will Hunt.

I won't be convinced until Hoffman does it against the best teams.

What am I missing here? Hoffman just seemed to have found his niche on the wing last year. He was pretty dangerous from 20 meters out when he pinned back his years and just went for the corner. In 2012 he hardly made a single break at fullback. Maybe he was injured but he was sub standard. Now he pops up at 5/8 of all places. The sad story is even if he is brilliant at 5/8 what weapons can he go to out wide? Barba and maybe Vidot. Thats it for now. How good will Hodges be when he returns? He is a champion and I would not write him off, but I don't think we can bank on him this year. Anyway you look at it it's bad . We are desperately in need of at least another three quality backs. I can only dread to think what sort of a team we will be fielding at origin time or even after a few players are out with injuries. Our abysmal recruitment program for the last few years is now being embarrassingly exposed .

Anthony Griffin has basically completely lost his marbles.

We're going so bad, but expect to be decimated at origin time?

Was watching NRL 360 tonight and Ben Ikin reckons our 2015 halfs pairing will be Anthony Milford and Karmichael Hunt. What do you guys think?

It depends on if we sign Karmichael Hunt and play him in the halves.

I have made my thoughts clear a harmichael, I just want him back here at the club, wherever he plays. I'm not sure he would be the greatest playmaker but would be a pretty good organizer I reckon. I think Milford and khunt could work really well

I think we should try to have an all fullback 1 through 7. The theory is that they should be the best one on one tacklers.

Dunnooooo, I really like Karmichael, but that's a whole lot of pressure to come back from years out of the game and step into the halves, where he's virtually never played before.

Not to mention he'll be with an extremely young Halfback, instead of an experienced one, which would make more sense.. I dun like it.

Massive Karmichael fan and I think he could still be a very good NRL player but I don't think it is a good option for us to sign him as our halfback saviour.

The thing is that he doesn't fit the profile of what a "halfback saviour" would be, eg. DCE. What he brings is an entirely different skillset that allows us to play the game to his strengths. He has a fearless running game, we know that. He is very capable passer, great short kicking game etc. But his biggest asset will be vision, and his time playing a 360 degree game will only make him better.

Totally agree.

We need to lose this whole 'halfback saviour' thing and that shit to the media. There is only one halfback saviour for use and that is DCE and there is more chance of me pulling on the 7 than that happening.

For mine we could make a Milford/khunf combo work well. Hunt is pretty unflappable too so that would be an advantage. If he did come back to play in the halves he would have plenty of media/fans saying he can't do it (just like they did when he went to fumble ball) but he doesn't let that kind of pressure get to him

Yeah but our side doesn't need another running half. It needs an organizer. One who can control the game with their kicking game. That is not how Karmichael can play IMO.
