2014 Halves Pairing

I think the difference between Walsh and Wallace is Walsh has the ability to break the line and his try assists would be much higher IMO..

I don't want to be rude but I find the idea of moving McCullough away from the 9 idiotic. Our halves situation is what it is for this season. I am more worried about the 2015 halves situation TBH. If we get it right a Premiership crack might not be out of the question.

Even when Milford gets here in 2015 we still need a half to steer us around the park. I don't think Hunt is that person. Milford will bring the flare. We need an established half to partner him. Either that or a younger organiser That we haven't seen yet. Maybe Ash Taylor..

Playing McCullough in a position that he hasn't played in since he was just a kid...could work.

Or we could just put an actual half from the reserve grades there and take a chance..

McCullough has been going great at 9 and one of the reasons why we have been winning. We should keep him there imo.

It certainly is looking like Hunt won't be that guy. Not sure who our options are in regards to our juniors. I don't think Taylor is the organizing type from what I've heard but I could be wrong.

Does anyone rate Luke Walsh? I think in a well constructed side he would be a good option to steer the team around. Sending him an Nrl lifeline for a 1 year contract to see how he goes might not be the worst idea. 7. Walsh 6 . Milford? Just thinking aloud....

It's not as crazy as it sounds. Normally I'd be dead against it, but Walsh had an awesome combo with Coote when he was fit, his short kicking game had him at the top of the try-assists via kicks list. Coote's strength in that combo was his timing and acceleration - attributes that Barba mirrors, possible even betters.

I'm quite negative towards Hunt normally, but I do think he has the organisational skills we need, especially combined with Macca. ATM I think Mac is primarily leading the team just because of experience, with Hunt there to call it when he sees something. But mostly, Hunt is really restricted at the moment because Hoff has no passing game, so Hunt is easy meat unless there is a staggered defensive line (meaning Hoff can come in to it). Milford has a much better passing game, meaning the defence doesn't have just one target to shut down. Less pressure on Hunt means he can do what's needed to lead the team around instead of get pressured & suffocated in to poor options.

Most of Hunts problems come from his kicking, I reckon Macca will put in a few this week to help out, it might see us kicking a little earlier but something has to change there. We will not have a chance against the Roosters if we hand up field position like we did to the Cows.

There's genuinely no good organising halves off-contract at the end of this season, apart from maybe Mullen & Lui, both of which will probably re-sign with their clubs.

There's basically not even a possibility that our halves combination next year isn't -

6. Milford
7. Hunt / Nikorima / Strasser / Taylor / Cullen / Kahu

We'll probably ride Hunt until the end of next season, despite him playing shit the whole time, then we'll sign a good half to partner Milford for 2016.

Edit; Notable Halves off-contract in 2016 - Foran, Campese, Maloney, Sezer, Cherry-Evans, Keary, A.Kelly, A.Reynolds

Surely we have the money / pulling power to get one of them.

I'd only want 2 out of that list. Foran or DCE.

I think Broncos have a good chance of getting Foran.

Manly will do absolutely everything they can to keep DCE, and it may just give Broncos a chance to snare Foran.

Plus it would help a lot if Broncos signed a half that doesn't play Origin.

I really think it is the opposite, that Foran is their golden haired boy and most likely their next captain. It helps that Sterling keeps saying Foran is the best young half in the game.
We sould go hard after DCE and make Manly choose between the two of them

Foran is die hard manly he will never leave them, or Sydney and I never would want him to just another manly grub

1.5 million a season at DCE plus third parties. If that doesn't sway him and his girl, nothing will. Also, play the psychological game. Keep on drilling it into his head that the Stewart Brothers hate him.

Offload Hoffman to the Dogs and Hannant to the Titans to free up cap space. We have plenty of outside backs and forwards that we can make use of.

Hannant won't be going anywhere, he wants a knew contract with the Broncos.
