2014 Halves Pairing

Re: [Rumour] Hannant to Titans

No the problem is the recruiting of halves. Or lack of! ... Going into an Nrl season without at least one established half is ludicrous. Especially since our club is one of the most popular clubs in the world. Surely at some point someone has to be held accountable. The defense had been great but there will come a time very soon., Maybe even tonight that we will be behind on the scoreboard and we will need our halves to spark something in attack and with Ben Hunt running the show it doesn't look possible. Last week in the crowd I can't remember how many Broncos members sat next to us kept saying "Why the f@@k are they still persisting with Hunt"... There is no organization, No steering the team around the park. It's a miracle we won the first two games. Everyone is really putting their hands up in defense. The halves situation in 2014. It's just embarrassing to be honest. How far our once great Club has fallen. I'll still support the Broncos till the day I die. But being a passionate fan, There are times when you shake your head and wonder where the hell it all went wrong. Paul White said The Broncos won't settle for mediocrity... Um Really Paul???

Re: [Rumour] Hannant to Titans

It was always going to take time to recover from losing Lockyer, we gave as many chances to Wallace & Norman as humanly possible, they simply didn't prove themselves worthy enough to be our halves, and Prince was only ever a 1-2 year stop-gap, given the circumstances, I don't mind our halves situation at the moment, because our only other option was to stick with Corey Normal and Fairy Wallace for another season.

This season may be a write off due to our halves, but on the bright side, that almost guarantees we'll be chasing every origin level caliber half that comes on to the free market in the next couple of seasons, and I can guarantee we'll get someone great to partner Milford, whether it be for 2015 or 2016.

This is crap. Everyone is putting the blame on Hunt but even Cronk and Thurston would look shit being the only kicker in the team and having numerous players rushing to him on the last tackle because he is the only option. It's the non-kicking game from the other players that are causing the problems. The few kicks Hoffman and Barba did they had all the room in the world.

That's your opinion. I'm sure Cronk would handle it much better but stick to what you believe mate :-)

Cronk is a much better player but I don't think it's fair to expect Hunt to carry the workload that every other team shares between 2 or 3 players. Sorry for the off topic conversation. Let's move on.

I'd really like to know if Milford has a good kicking game... That being said I'm willing to give Hunt at least until round 13 to see if he can really improve, his kicking game is awful but maybe with lots of practice and experience as our main playmaker he will start to shine.

It's now on topic, and that is bs mate...

First of all, Macca as well as Barba are perfectly capable of kicking and helping out Hunt.
Second, Hunt's kicking is more often than not, absolutely horrible. It generally lacks direction, weight and/or depth.

He has the vision to be a halve, but his kicking execution often lets him down. Many times have I watched him see the right play, such as kicking to a isolated winger, but 9/10 times his kick is really bad, being either too shallow, too short or too long.

Its just a frustrating time. I hope B Hunt can rise to the challenge but as I mentioned the recruiting has been horrible. Even if they keep Hunt they should have recruited a better halves option to partner him IMO

Well I hope Hunt has thanked them for all their help so far this year. I know they're capable but they are not kicking, therefore Hunt has been the only option. Hunts kicking is average at best but without any help in that department whatsoever it isn't going to get better.

Like who? And please let's keep it realistic...

Cronk and Thurston were not ever leaving their clubs.

Widdop wasn't worth the $550K at the time, and although he has shown some good stuff in two games, it's still early to say whether he will go on with it.

Who else? Soward? No thanks!

Luke Walsh would have been a better option then nobody?

So how does everyone feel about Hunt now?

He may not be the messiah, but I think tonight shows calls for his head were a little premature.

Despite his run first mentality, and I still think he'd be better elsewhere, I'd like to point out Hoffman has improved every single week. Credit for effort!
