2017 Line-up

Really? That's good news. I haven't heard anything that we have officially signed him.
Where did you hear that?

If Danoz says its done its done mate. Should be announced in the next week or 2.

Welp, at least we know the wing spots are deeper than the wreck of the Deepwater Horizon.

We have two very similar centres in Moga and Pangai signed. Will be interesting to which one gets above the other in the pecking order.

It will come down to training Bennett likes the players that put that extra leg in

Mead will be in first grade, there's no way he will be in reserves. He's also a quality player who's a reliable winger in every aspect, I'm very excited to have him on board next year!

I have seen quite a few posts lately saying that next year will be a rebuilding year. I would argue that this year was our rebuilding year.

Last year we over achieved and and it was glorious and measured against that this year was disappointing. As far as experienced NRL players though since grand final day last year we have lost Hodges, Copley, Vidot, Dodds, Reed, Maranta, Parker and Wallace.

Our only experienced gains have been Roberts, Mead, probably Moga, Dodds back and Ese'ese I think had had a couple of starts.

We have however blooded Opacic, Pearson, TPJ, Arrow, Sua and Joe and Ese'ese have gained more experience.

The club is clearly banking on these young guys and if we are to have a better year next year they will have to build on the experience they gained this year and lift to be serious players. I hope they can.

Tautau Moga can be a really great pick up, and he can surprise quite a few people. Out of our whole squad, he'll probably have the most untapped potential. Injuries early on in his career has stunted his development, but the great thing is he is still so young. At 22, he has his best football still in front of him and as his body matures, he'll overcome those injuries and get stronger.

The thing with Moga is getting his confidence back, not only in his body, but in his ability. There's no better coach than Bennett at helping a young bloke regain their confidence and establish greater trust in their own ability. If Moga gains some confidence, it will no doubt be transferred on the field. For those who don't know a lot about Moga, he is a supremely talented footballer, who just when he looked like coming into his own as a first grader, got struck with a few major injuries. Being so young when he suffered those repeat injuries, I'm not sure he ever really overcame them mentally. You don't lose talent, and if he can string together a few games, he's best football will follow.

Just some background on Moga, but he and Milford went to the same highschool, and as freakish as Milford has always been, Moga was by far the better player. Moga does remind me a lot of Kahu, who was head and shoulders above the rest and far too talented for those around them, but major injuries have hampered them from truly realising their potential. Kahu is a perfect example for Moga, who too can become a great footballer, similar to the way Kahu has after overcoming his early setbacks.

Also, having familiar faces such as Milford and Ofahengaue, could be good for Moga. It would be nice to see an existing combination between Milford and Moga in the top grade. Moga being a quite kid, probably just needs some nurturing from Bennett. Hopefully Wayne can work his magic and get him fulfilling his huge potential.

Moga was once called the Israel Folau of tommorow wasn't he?

Yep.

But pretty much every guy coming through is compared to a superstar player.

I'm too old for this shit.

Just call me when JT retires.

Moga. He's a roughie if there's ever been one. Bloke is so injury prone. Hope we paid peanuts for him and he's actually fit now.

Mead is a dead set gun. One of the truest tests of ability is playing in a shit squad and still producing. His effort in 2008 RLWC game as a rookie for PNG vs Australia... And 10 odd years with the Titans only to be ousted for Kanye Hayne during their best tilt at a title in their history.

I hope eseese gets a spot on the bench he could be a gun if given more time a chance and gorge fai should get a few games up he looks the goods in qcup

If we move oats to the second row there will be room for mead kahu and either moga or pangai just throw oats to left second row and put gillett lock

Pissing in the wind if you think we're a contender for the trophy in 2017.

Top 4? maybe.

Top 8? Yes.

The Forward pack needs a complete overhaul which will take years to correct.
