2017 Line-up

It's all going to depend on how Hunt plays.

Agree...

I just wouldn't play him..we give him 12 months more development. . Would be better to develop a new half like nikorima ... Even if this means no cigar in 2017..

I'll rephrase that...

Blood new talent like kodi...or bring on some experience like benji.

Take any money dragons will give us and release him now..

I would rather go with a player committed to the club now. .

At the moment Hunt is committed. He is committed to winning us a premiership.

He deserves the chance to finish out his final year after the loyalty he showed us to stick around when there was uncertainty about his future at the club.. Which if he did leave, would have left us in a bad position.

We release Hunt, we still have to pay for him.

Meanwhile, we will likely miss the finals and lose our best chance at the moment of ending our premership drought because both Kodi and Benji are a downgrade.

As i said in me rephrase. .

Like to see nikorima first...Benji as back up.

Forget about dragons... he will be good for us

Niko wouldn't offer much at 7 in my opinion. Fullback is his position, much like matty bowen but not as good.

Nikorima was halfback when we were in England 2016.

Was half for newzealand ...

He didnt set the place on fire..but he went ok..

Bit of time maybe he could be a great half

Hasn't got the skill set to be a 7. He could be a running 6 but we have a better one already there . I think Kodi should have taken the storm offer.

How do you figure we develop him more?? He is 26 and been in 1st grade for several odd years now ! It's at the point were he is in control of bettering himself . Why would we ruin the halves partnership thats been building over the past few years, and have a crack this year . Or we do it your way and rebuild around an unknown over the next few years and miss our chance , just because someone is leaving.
Hunt took us to the 2015 GF and he can do it again with a more experienced milf next to him ....

Respect your view Pagey... i like Hunt .. and dont blame him for chasing the dollars who wouldn't. .. im worried for next season where we are just throwing someone in the half who will then take time to develop.

I just think we bight the bullet and go with another.... build them up for next year..

I think we will still do ok this year..

Thanks mate ! But your thought process seems a bit silly sorry. You don't want to play someone who needs to develop next year but happy to do it this year? Even if we went with niko , wouldn't it be better to ease him into rmore responsibility this year whilst not taking the rains ..he could learn from hunt , Marshall and milf . I don't understand why you would throw away a genuine chance to win a GF. FYI I think we will chase a 7 that will be more than up to standards

That has merit also

If you think you are a genuine title threat, you put your best 17 on the field, and our best 17 includes Hunt

If you think for some reason we are not a genuine chance this year, sure release/drop Hunt and play your 2018 halfback now to give them time to gel

But I can't imagine that the 2017 Broncos are not in with a genuine shot at the title, so it's Hunt all the way

This whole drop hunt rubbish is becoming ridiculous.

If you drop hunt then all of a sudden you have a rookie running half in knik coupled with a complete change of game plan for milf who would become our dominate controlling half... oh and then there is the fact that milf would be our obvious go to man inside the 20 so teams can just line up on him when the game is on the line... or at any time really

We'd essentially become a one man team and the one man is trying to come to terms with a completely different role... completely fucking up the development of both players.

There's also the commercial implications to the broncos as a whole (you do remember this is a business and has to be profitable right????). Suddenly we become a basket case on the field, likely miss the finals and have two halves thrown in the deep end too early, setting ourselves back about 3 years...

but yeah lets **** hunt off to reserves, because **** him!!!

Nikorima at halfback is such a risk. He'd be tackling all game as every man and his dog will be running at him and Since he's a tiny teddy he's bound to miss a bunch of those tackles too. Then lastly he'll then be too gassed to provide anything in attack. I could be wrong but the risk is there

I wonder how Kodi feels with pretty much all and sundry saying go buy a replacement (Hodges, Parker).

As for Hunt, it really depends on how the season is going. If we're going shithouse and we're likely to miss the 8/scrape him, I don't see any harm in dropping him, if anything it might give Milf a headstart on being more dominant on the field which is something I think we all want.

But if we're cruising and right amongst it, i agree with the crowd that says **** that go for the title - that's why the team exists, right?

I'm quietly confident we'll be ok in life post-Hunt, and that we'll be better for it long term, but barring form or injury I believe he should get first dibs on half-back.

As has been mentioned, he's not the kind to not put in the effort. I think he'll have more fire in the belly to go out on a high and redeem himself to the broncos and fans on the way out.

No grudes here, he's been a loyal servant of the club in lean times. As somebody said, this could realistically be his last genuine shot at a premiership in quite a while. He'll put his body on the line for us this year, and the dragons can pay for the rehab next year

Off Topic but how many new members has there been in the last year or so
