Flegler is a prop.

Ofahengaue is more than capable of playing 80 minutes.
Mmmm, Flegler can play prop but the Bronco's have him listed as a second rower. Offa may be able to play 80 mins but would those minutes be all quality? Aside from that I don't recall many coaches playing a prop for 80 mins although I may be wrong and they all do it. Doubtful.

He is a prop. Not can play prop. That's his position.

Also in my original list, Su'A & Glenn are more than capable of covering a shift in the middle.

Patronizing? Ha ha, when contrasted with your wildly inaccurate first post it has to be better than being puerile. I think that's the word you were looking for. The fact that you saw something thing and incorrectly described it seems lost on you. It isn't perspective that's the problem, it's your bias and an obvious preconception or presupposition. You didn't judge the performance fairly when you described it with "sadly, he bombed it dreadfully ". He did no such thing, you simply are unfairly critical.

Ultimately you're right though, it's down to opinion and you're entitled to view it differently.

I saw what @Jedhead saw. If we were short on depth and needed an experienced plodder to cover our (much) better forwards for 10 minutes, Tagataese would be fine. But so would someone like Scott Anderson (also a premiership winning prop with plenty of NRL experience). We're way beyond that with our squad this year.

Seriously, you can not talk of preconception or bias and then consider your opinion of Tagataese to be in any way balanced and impartial. The only reason you advocate for him is that he's ex-Sharks. You talk about having watched him closely, which is fair enough, but then you go and claim that Flegler is a second-rower, simply because that's how he's listed on the Broncos website. Watching one player closely (Tagataese) and not others (Flegler just as an example) does not give an indication of a player's ability relative to others. It is the definition of using blinkers.

Flegler played much prop in first grade? Hard to watch someone who isn't a first grade regular. I didn't claim he wasn't a prop rather I pointed out the Bronco's had him listed as a second rower. I suppose you could stretch it a bit and say because I stated that old mate had three second rowers on the bench and a utility I was indirectly saying he wasn't. Okay, granted, I did. Anyway, it's not how I'd have the bench. The way he has it he has one ISC prop, two second rowers and a utility. I'd have two dedicated props, a second rower and a utility, not much difference really. We'll see soon enough how Seibold rolls.

Flegler has one season of ISC experience and as so many on here have pointed out it's a vastly inferior competition . He's also only 19 so a full season in first grade would be a big ask. I'm not saying he isn't a good player or he couldn't do the job just that a seasoned veteran of the position might be needed.

Tagataese will no doubt fill one of the voids left by Haas and TPJ. A guy like Seibold when presented with 2 choices would go one risky and one safe.

Looks like Gillett will get some game time against the Titans this trial.

This trial will give us a real indication. I can't wait to see Gillo on the field again. I watched the trial game, and whilst Flegler had a few good runs, I'm a bit confused at all the hype around him yet. I hope he does go well, but i don't think we need to push him yet. Compared to the off season photo I saw of Sua, i actually thought he looked in very good shape and intimidating. I too think he has grown in height. His defence was strong the other night, i can't see him missing out if his ankle is healed. I also like the thought of him in a stint as lock. They don't seem to like to run at him. Fafita was good again, without doing too much. Still got caught out in defence a few times. Bird looked FIT!! different physique to last year. Staggs is a weapon.

Fifita was playing 80 last year (I know because I didn’t own him on SC at the time and it ruined my season) and was good for the whole game. I’d back Offa to be fitter than Fifita. Locks like Brown and formerly PG play/ played 80 week to week as well. Not sure it’s required with our side though, unless Offa is too good to take off the field of course.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Gillett is going to have a big season? I remember when he first started playing for us, he was utterly destructive. I think he will adapt to Seibold style of attacking football really well. Him and Jimmy are gonna be a handful!

Thanks, I'm not too sure how many props play 80 mins but I'm guessing it wouldn't be the norm. I think I'm a bit dated because I was thinking two genuine prop replacements was the go but Seibold will show how it's done in 2019.

You don't need middle forwards playing 80 minutes, it's far better to have a higher quality 50-60. That's what the bench is for too.

It depends who the replacements are, how in form the player playing 80 is, how vital they are to the defence, and if they can physically handle it. Whenever Brown went off last year the Eels instantly lost momentum and got carved up through the middle, but their pack is obviously a few tiers down from ours. The same thing happens with the Cows and JT13 (who can handle 80), but Green is an idiot and rigid with his rotations.

Luckily we won't have to rely on any one forward because we don't sign blokes for 10 years on over a mil a season.

Taumalolo cant handle 80 minutes and Green knows it. Teams pick him out defensively in the later stages of the halves and get great results with line breaks and try's.

I'm pretty sure TPJ will be fine for Round 1, but if he isn't, this is what we should go with.
