2019 Broncos Line-up

I liked what I've seen from Turpin in FG, but until he starts to dominate QLD Cup and really push for a spot, he shouldn't be considered as a straight replacement for McCullough (and as some might know, I've been anti-McCullough since like 2012 or something). He definitely wouldn't make us a 30 point better side.

To be honest I'm kinda sick of us signing spine players who just seem to do OK in QLD Cup at best. I wish we could sign someone who can dominate there and really put pressure on our starting players.

Your post said that the Broncos are a 30 point better team with Turpin in it. By that logic and considering the ISC is an easier competition than the NRL then Redcliffe must be a 40 or 50 point better team with this hero in it. I bet they are grateful for that because they would have lost by 60 or 70 on the weekend without him.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion but if it’s extreme then be prepared to be called out. You are effectively saying Seibold would rather lose than introduce new talent while we have one of the youngest packs in the league. The most likely explanation is that the PROFESSIONAL coach thinks Macca is a better option than Turpin.

The professional origin coach hooked him for good in the 1st half of Game 3 last year, zero line breaks and no creativity whatsoever. The guy replacing him, Hunt showed more dynamism and spark around the ruck.
Walters is not picking McCullough again this year, he is not that stupid.

so first you start comparing the ISC to NRL ... now you are comparing regular NRL to State of Origin...

do everyone a favor and start comparing apples and apples will you

How many hookers have played for Queensland? He’s in pretty good company just making that list. I think Turpin did a great job filling in and if the coaches thought he would be better than Macca week in and week out then they would pick him but the truth is he’s not banging the door down every week in the lower grade. Ask Wobbie Farah if Seibold is ruthless enough to cut the senior guy if a real talent shows up.

Blind Freddy can see that TBF.
Tis true but my mate happens to be a world class tipster. He proved that when he won the 50 grand in the Sportsbet competition and then played hide and seek with Sportsbet. They tracked him down to give him the 50k 5 months after winning it. He has a few buddies close in tight in the club still.

Why would he play hide and seek......it's 50 grand? Is he that rich, or am I missing something?

Still haven't figured it out. I doubt anyone knows him better and I cannot figure it out. He certainly wasn't rich then and isn't rich now. He does say that he didn't think it was for real. Too many head knocks from playing down in the lower grades with Sironen and co back in the day. He's got video of himself playing alongside ET but he reckons he was just a battler playing amongst some future legends.

Easy fix to our spine and general cohesion in the side. Quiz me on why I have put players where they are and I should have a reason for it.

1. Jamayne Isaako
2. Darius Boyd
3. Jack Bird
4. Kotoni Staggs
5. James Roberts
6. Anthony Milford
7. Sean O'Sullivan
8. Matthew Lodge
9. Andrew McCullough
10. Thomas Flegler
11. Corey Oates
12. Matt Gillett
13. Tevita Pangai Junior

have you even been watching Isaako play ... in his current form he is lucky to even be in the team

Lucky for Isaako we gave his competition to the Cows.

Or the Dragons. I've said it before, but if Pearson could kick goals as well as Issako i think he would have been ahead of him in the pecking order as i feel his wing play is better than Issako's

Agreed. Pearson looked like he had heaps of potential and that he was starting to fulfil it, especially his last game for the Broncs. But if Isaako continues to play so poorly and is dropped, who goal kicks?

The more I see of him playing the more I can see it happening.

Bird to lock anyone? Before yelling me down from the rooftop hear me out. Every run he does he hits hard with late footwork, his defence isn't great laterally for a centre but would be great in the middle with a big hit in him and the ability to lead the line, he's getting fitter (may happen later in the year), and he is great at finding a half hole with tired forwards. He's also bigger then I remember and is aggressive and enthusiastic with speed. Also will allow Staggs to get 80 mins and for nikorima to go to the bench and fill the role he was born to play. I don't think or want it to happen yet (if dearden or osullivan get given till round 10 (o'sullivan) 18 (dearden) to develop a little more) but maybe later on. Bird would also need to build up his confidence in his body and match fitness. With him there it'd allow for a much stronger bench rotation too with gillett back to the edge and bird presumably playing 80 mins.

O’Sullivan is injured and missed last week and this week.

Flegler made two simple mistakes last night and won’t be rewarded with starting.

Haas is suspended.

Oates is your best try scorer why would you move him?

I dunno about moving Bird. Firstly we are very short on centre depth. Staggs is all we have, right? Roberts already looks injured too.
Secondly we have already seen how Gillett struggles with making metres in the middle, is Bird going to fare any better?

Its where we signed him for, but Seibold did say he prefers his lock to play like a middle forward, which is why i'm surprised he put Gillo there. I'd be surprised if we put Bird there, but I'd like to see it.

It will be interesting to see the team list this week.

He moved Gillett out to the right in the game last night, albeit fairly late ... I don't recall that being a substitution move in previous games.

As you've been saying though, to move Gillett to the second row would require one of Glenn, Sua or Fifita to be dropped.

Seibs appeared to put Sua in at prop maybe looking to shoehorn all the second rowers in, but I think it's a bit much to ask him to put in 30-40mins at prop every game
