2019 Broncos Line-up

It will be interesting to see the team list this week.

He moved Gillett out to the right in the game last night, albeit fairly late ... I don't recall that being a substitution move in previous games.

As you've been saying though, to move Gillett to the second row would require one of Glenn, Sua or Fifita to be dropped.

Seibs appeared to put Sua in at prop maybe looking to shoehorn all the second rowers in, but I think it's a bit much to ask him to put in 30-40mins at prop every game

He just needs to make the hard decision to drop some of these players. Sua and Gillo arent middle forwards. ITs going to be hard on somebody, but if he cant make these tough decisions he is going to find himself out of a job imo. Pick round pegs in round holes.

O’Sullivan is injured and missed last week and this week.

Flegler made two simple mistakes last night and won’t be rewarded with starting.

Haas is suspended.

Oates is your best try scorer why would you move him?
How is Dearden travelling? What are his chances?

Or the Dragons. I've said it before, but if Pearson could kick goals as well as Issako i think he would have been ahead of him in the pecking order as i feel his wing play is better than Issako's

Isaako was out of position while defending pretty much every kick

I dunno about moving Bird. Firstly we are very short on centre depth. Staggs is all we have, right? Roberts already looks injured too.
Secondly we have already seen how Gillett struggles with making metres in the middle, is Bird going to fare any better?

Shibasaki is a center as well.

Easy fix to our spine and general cohesion in the side. Quiz me on why I have put players where they are and I should have a reason for it.

1. Jamayne Isaako
2. Darius Boyd
3. Jack Bird
4. Kotoni Staggs
5. James Roberts
6. Anthony Milford
7. Sean O'Sullivan
8. Matthew Lodge
9. Andrew McCullough
10. Thomas Flegler
11. Corey Oates
12. Matt Gillett
13. Tevita Pangai Junior

14. Kodi Nikorima
15. David Fifita
16. Payne Haas
17. Joe Ofahengaue

Thanks God you aren't the coach then!

KNik to 14 to be a super sub for Macca late in each half is the only change we need, obviously along with someone to replace KNik at 7

That I believe would transform the team

It's true we could probably benefit from a new 1 as well, but we need a better alternative and right now we don't have one

Roberts to 5 and Oates to 11 are real head scratchers

Yet to play a game this year but has put on weight.
What’s the story there? Wrapping him in cotton wool so other clubs don’t try and poach him, potentially? Is there any chance of him making his debut this year or do they think he is still too young? Watching parra take the gamble of playing Dylan Brown (18y.o) in the halves the last 3wks has payed dividends.

The more I see of him playing the more I can see it happening.

Bird to lock anyone? Before yelling me down from the rooftop hear me out. Every run he does he hits hard with late footwork, his defence isn't great laterally for a centre but would be great in the middle with a big hit in him and the ability to lead the line, he's getting fitter (may happen later in the year), and he is great at finding a half hole with tired forwards. He's also bigger then I remember and is aggressive and enthusiastic with speed. Also will allow Staggs to get 80 mins and for nikorima to go to the bench and fill the role he was born to play. I don't think or want it to happen yet (if dearden or osullivan get given till round 10 (o'sullivan) 18 (dearden) to develop a little more) but maybe later on. Bird would also need to build up his confidence in his body and match fitness. With him there it'd allow for a much stronger bench rotation too with gillett back to the edge and bird presumably playing 80 mins.

Bird is playing well at centre. Give the poor bloke the chance to excel in one position before we start using him to plug all our gaps again.

If you read my comment you would see I stated later on in the season multiple times, and also stated to wait until he gets his confidence and match fitness back.
This also isn't a "gap" to plug, we have a lot of options for lock. This is to assist our middle forward rotation, get him more involved, get gillett back to the edge (although this could happen through other means), and to get Staggs on the field more.

I think they are building him up physically before they throw him in personally. Have a feeling Seibold thinks very highly of him and he is going to get a shot this year.

Apologies for skimming over your comment too quickly. I missed some of what you said and you make some fair points.

Personally I still would not play Bird at lock. However if Kotoni was demanding selection and Bird was given an opportunity there, it would be interesting to see if he can prove people like myself wrong.

He's been named in MM Cup for WM Seagulls this week.

He's in an age group that play a lot of football, which is why the MM season is short, they play that, club and some are still playing school too. He went away to England end of last year and came back played some NRL trials. It's just not burning him out.

The next three weeks will determine a lot, like Fifita last year finish the MM season and finals then maybe ISC. I think physically he wouldn't handle it at the moment. Last season the MM finished on the 5 of May and Fifita was playing his first ISC game on the 20th May and handled it.

I can't see that happening again here.

If I was putting bird anywhere else it’s fullback, I’d rather Kodi there but bird at least gets Boyd out of there for the time being.

This is a little out of left field but if people are still wanting Bird in the forwards because of his size and what not then I’d be more interested in maybe seeing how he went at hooker, ideally you’d do that in the trials though.
