2019 Broncos Line-up

Thats not playing against men. I wouldnt say playing in his age group is throwing him in.

Probably just keeping match fitness up with less risk of injury?

Also Perese and Kennar had hit outs last week for their respective feeder clubs. Perese is the real deal, played at centre, he'll force his way into the squad.

From what i gather Perese had the riot act read to him and he has responded really well.

Do you think he's gonna be better than Staggs? I pretty much know nothing about him.

Dont know, Staggs is a proper footballer every aspect of his game is top notch. Perese just runs the ball so well, haven't seen enough but what he has shown so far has been pretty fantastic.

The more pressure we put on Oates, Isaako, Roberts and more importantly Boyd the better.

Yeah he's still got the Union body pudge, think once he has another preseason with the club he'll be something special.

Perese made the 21 man squad this week didn't he? That's pretty impressive.

If we come out of this week 3-1 surely it’s time to start at least looking at making changes. SOS off the bench, Kodi to 9 and Macca can have the last 20mins of each half off.
Bird to fullback I think would offer a fair bit more to the starts of our sets, but would be a hard case to push with how well he and Oates are combining. Also, Fensom has offered nothing as yet, so wouldn’t mind seeing a bit of a change there. Offa also needs to step up.
Lodge steps straight back in this week which will be welcomed.

not necessarily ... Souths only won 2 of their first 5 games last season... and that was against a couple of poor teams in Manly and the Bulldogs.

it can take teams a while to change their style of play when a new coach comes in ... especially when you have been playing the old way for years

But Souths did have a gun number 9 who Siebs had the guts to play over the SOO number 9 who wasn't going great and who could straighten and speed up their attack. The Broncs don't have that level of hooker waiting in the wings and it remains to be seen whether Siebs has the courage to play a Turpin or a KNik over another current SOO number 9 who also isn't (and never really has been) what is needed.

I do not see why people want to move Bird from left centre to lock.

We finally have someone that can fill the void we've had at left centre for years and people want to move him to a position that we have plenty of cover in?

The only change we really need to make is replacing our current 7 and having him as the utility to share the hooker role with Macca.

Wasn't the main reason Farah was dropped because Seibold believes hooker is an 80 minute position?
I can't see him dropping Niko to the bench, it's either 7 or reserves.

I also can't see him dropping Macca, but then again Farah was far better by any measure and he was dropped for someone who was relatively unproven at the time so it's possible but I just can't see it happening. For better or worse, Macca is our 9 until he decides to retire.

We don't have a player like Cook sitting in the reserves, and that is likely what is saving Macca

Maybe because Gillett isnt really doing anything there? It would mean a change in our Style, but i do see why people want Bird there. Staggs is a more than capable left center. I dont think it will happen though after Seibolds comments in pre season, but i didnt think he would put Gillett there either after those comments.

This is a little out of left field but if people are still wanting Bird in the forwards because of his size and what not then I’d be more interested in maybe seeing how he went at hooker, ideally you’d do that in the trials though.
I have absolutely no doubt Bird would make a fine hooker. He would be Farrah like in my opinion. All the skills a hooker should possess are in Bird. Bird played 5/8 at Cronulla and made a fair job of it so passing, kicking and running the ball wouldn't be an issue and we've now seen he can handle the tackling. If you're suggesting he replace McCullough for at least 25-30 minutes a game I'm all for it!

Anyone interested Deardon and Carrigan playing for Wynnum in ISC being televised on nein now (12.00pm)

Dearden was V good. Promising signs from him :)
Please help me understand this though...
1. Even though Gillette will bust himself for the team, (I love him) he's not a 13. He is however, one of the best back rowers in the world.
.....

2. Both TPJ & Joffa will most likely be future 13 legends...!

Then this one...

3. Patty Carrigan continues to prove he is the future (our future!) at 13.
I love Seibold & all he has done so far. For the life of me though, I don't understand why Gillette isn't in his preferred position & why the **** hasn't Patty been given a shot, at least a bench opportunity?
???
