That's usually enough to earn a Titans or Dragons contract though.
Titans and Dragons are both already struggling to find places for all their fullbacks. Unless one of them are dumb enough to try him at centre

one final ex-Bronco for hook to sign before his sacking 🤔

Nah he hasn’t gone after Tesi cause he knows it causes us more suffering by keeping him. Can be a smart man sometimes Hook. Not often but sometimes.

What are the Dragons options at fullback? Cody Ramsey, Tyrell Sloan and Moses Mbye? I wouldn't really call those options, compromises would be more appropriate.

Jesus calm down buddy

There was no way a million dollar company was allowed to be run by Kevin Walters. Not a single chance in the world.

It wasn't an open fact he was being chased, it was a logical assumption.

Gamble was a 6 who trained at a lot of positions in the off season, but couldn't do what Billy could at 9 and that is saying something. Gamble was a half, not a utility.

Ok I'm sorry, I take it back. You're not being dishonest. You're flat out lying.

I think nearly everyone except you knew I was talking about the footballing side of things. im well aware he wasn’t negotiating and signing major sponsors and the like but in terms of where our roster was heading he had the house all to himself that weekend. Even good ol Steve managed to get on the payroll for a year. But if you feel you made a really good point then that’s all that matters I guess.

p.s Gamble couldn’t do what billy could at hooker for a very, very good reason. Because he never got the chance because billy never got dropped. But again, technically you were absolutely correct. Congratulations I guess…?

Personally I prefer players that aren’t an outright defensive liability, especially in the middle. So on the flip side, it’s also true that Walters could also not do what gamble could do at hooker, make his tackles.

Ramsey and Sloan both have more upside than Niu. He would be 3rd tier depth behind either of them.

I really struggle to believe that's the case as well. He still has barely any input into who gets signed. He wasn't handling contracts, he wasn't handing them out to anyone. And regarding his brother, the bloke who has worked for the Kangaroos and Maroons over the years, what a terrible signing haha.

P.S Crazy thought but do you reckon these blokes just show up on the field on a Friday night without training and seeing what players can do? Sometimes it might look like it, but I'll give you the hot tip. They train all week and the coach sees what they can and can't do. Gamble trained at hooker in the off season and didn't do enough to get another look in, because he's a half.

Gamble was most definitely not known for his defense. And you just know it wouldn't have been any better if he was defending in the middle.

We have got a lot of train and trials this year, it's very exciting

by that logic, then clearly DD/Ikin think more of Billy as a player than his own father.

Kevvie only signed him to a 1 year contract ... DD/Ikin just re-signed him for double that contract length

or maybe they are just accomodating kevvie as best they can because as coach he does get a very large say in who we sign.

My personal opinion is that kevvie has this year to at least give the comp a bit of a shake, or he will be discarded, along with his son’s second year. Would not read too much into the fact it’s a 2 year deal tbh.

dd and ikin’s attitude would be along the lines of letting kevvie largely run the team how he wants to and if things don’t improve then he falls on his sword. I really do think they back him but also know if he wants to tie his career to his son’s then good luck, it is your football team after all. We’ll be watching.

Possibly, but I doubt the Dragons are satisfied with their options at fullback which is my point. Sloan largely came up as a winger and hasn't shown anything to suggest he's a long term fullback. I've seen nothing to suggest Ramsey can be a top tier fullback.

I can’t believe you had the audacity to call me a liar. Stopped reading here mate. Sorry you wasted your time.

I won’t argue with either of that, though Sloan has been extremely highly hyped. I just don’t think Tesi is their answer but I’ll gladly let them try it.

The Director of Football, Ben Ikin is getting paid to just let Walters do whatever he wants for a year?

Niu could make a second fullback I guess at any of:
- Cowboys now Hammer is gone potentially
- Tigers if Laurie goes to the Dogs
- The because let's face it, Isaako is an awful fullback option
- Newcastle definitely if they don't get Garrick and for some reason, they have their heart set on Ponga in the halves and gave up Hoy, they have no idea what they are doing, so they could jump at him
- He'd be a good back up option to CNK at the Warriors
- Dragons I guess as @Big Pete mentioned
- Bulldogs if they don't get Laurie
- The Storm could use someone better than Meanie or whatever as a back up
- No idea who the Eels' back up is

There are probably others but he could fairly easily get picked up.

You, a grown man, just said rofl? ok..

Don't get me wrong, coaches get a say in who they want but it's not their decision at the end of the day. We have been lucky to have a coach for so long who was involved in everything, in Wayne Bennett. But Walters is not that kind of coach. Very few coaches are. He will go along to meetings with his hand held by Donaghy and Ikin, but it's their job to make signings and it's Walters' job to coach.

So was Niu.

I'll say this for Sloan, I actually think he's shown something on the wing and could be their answer to Addo-Carr. However he doesn't fit the Hook mould which is why they've been desperately trying to make him into a fullback.
