The Director of Football, Ben Ikin is getting paid to just let Walters do whatever he wants for a year?
Yeah that’s exactly what I said. Troll harder dickhead, or get a new hobby. This ground has been extensively covered. It is also WIDELY KNOWN, with no doubt whatsoever that the 2 had a feud this year, with Walters freezing out ikin from important footballing decisions. His brother ”stood down”(lol)and terry matterson was fired on the same day. Walters is being given a fair chance to succeed by ikin, which is no surprise whatsoever. Ikin is a very smart operator.

It's not very often you have a debate with someone who actually thinks Buzz Rothfield and Gorden Tallis know anything about anything, but today is that day.

It was also "WIDELY KNOWN" that peace talks were had and everything is all good now. Logically thinking (this might be difficult for you), but would you think the club gave each role specific job descriptions or came to the conclusion that Ikin can just chill this year and let Walters fall on his sword? These teams aren't in the business of just letting someone fail for the sake of it. But I find it hilarious that people actually think the Head of Football and CEO of the Broncos are just fine and dandy with throwing a season away (lol). He is a smart operator, but your little fabrication there is not smart decision.

You, a grown man, just said rofl? ok..

Don't get me wrong, coaches get a say in who they want but it's not their decision at the end of the day. We have been lucky to have a coach for so long who was involved in everything, in Wayne Bennett. But Walters is not that kind of coach. Very few coaches are. He will go along to meetings with his hand held by Donaghy and Ikin, but it's their job to make signings and it's Walters' job to coach.

Arent you the grown man that likes Pokémon and wwe wrestling?

trust me, I’m completely fine with my manhood and the fact I say rofl.

p.s rofl.

Just don't pull out a "hehe" please, nothing worse.

If you can show me where I described next season as anything remotely close to a throwaway then you just made a great point.

Don’t really rate Tristan as a player or as a human
So true. Wonder why the clubs been signing multiple players that could play same position. Agree that it provides competition but why’re we so fickle minded as to who should play where?
It occurs to me that we put in a lot of effort to nurture & develop these players only for the rest of clubs to come poach them when they’re settling into first grade.
With the way we’re heading into this preseason from roster perspective, I reckon it would be very different same time next season.
We need a settled roster going into start of the season.
On a different note, we get to lock down players like Herbie for good.

So you know more about what's going on at the Broncos than the coach's best mate, Gordie? Where do you receive this wisdom?

Maybe, but I'm not at all surprised he was picked up. I've mentioned him a few times as just a matter of time.

I’m not at all surprised by the news but I just thought he would need to flail around in reserve grade until he was 28 to then be signed by Wendall who gets his go at head coach.

I thought it could be cool to add a section where we outline football pedigree/relations to other NRL players or figures.

Billy Walters - son of Kevin Walters
Corey Oates - son-in-law of Gene Miles
Tristan Slater - son of Wendall Sailor
Kobe Hetherington - son of Jason Hetherington
Max Plath - son of John Plath

I think Mam is related to someone - the Lee brothers maybe?

Also have a feeling Herbie, Haas, and Willison have some connections?

Tesi Niu: cousin of David Fifita
Ezra Mam: cousin of Edrick and Brenko Lee
Keenan Palasia: nephew of Ricky Leutele.
Kurt Capewell: cousin of Luke Capewell.

He's certainly not getting this crack based on form- I thought he was horrible for Souths. Too selfish. When you're playing in a team coming last and losing by 72 your chip kick and one out running can be put away.

Too many attempted big plays that never came off.

I would say two things, Souths, Hunt and Wendell have won out and they're hoping he's the type of player that can be promoted and take up the challenge.

I thought Mam did it last year, based purely on his form for Souths he shouldn't be playing but when he was picked he was good.

Nepotism at the broncos you say? Unheard of! Me and the ghost of Lachlan Maranta’s NRL career won’t stand for such accusations.

I just think if you're weighing up $1000 a week and you have Dell's kid at your feeder it might go in his favour- I am sure Hunt had a massive say- he's already getting players to Souths and getting them Broncos Train and trials.

Nothing wrong with a club maintaining family connections. It can be healthy. The conflict only arises when the family member probably wouldn't have made the team if not for the connection.

Tongue in check mate

How are you finding Hunt as a coach? Does he have NRL potential? What would the most likely progression be for someone in his position if they were to eventually become an NRL head coach?

I don't have a problem with any of this. Maintaining family connections through a "club" of any nature is a good thing, if it doesn't lead to conflicts of interest creating disharmony.

I'm sure Wendell is far enough removed from the club that any conflict of interest will soon by overcome if he doesn't warrant selection. It's not like Wendell was a one club man or raised his kid through the Broncos system.

A selector's son is another matter. The conflict of interest is unavoidable. Again, nothing wrong with a coach selecting his son, but he better be one of the best, if not by far the best player on the team. Like Nathan Cleary or Martin Lang. If not, much better he plays for another club.
