firstly if you're talking about utility value, halfback and 5/8 should never be counted as 2 positions.

secondly did you even read what the article said ... just because some random "ricky" said Gamble is a utility doesn't make it fact ... the Knights director of football, Peter Parr, doesn't even claim him to be a utility; he says “His addition to our squad adds depth to our halves"

so I suppose the big question is should we take "ricky's" and your word that Gamble is a utility or Peter Parr's word that he is halves depth

Again.... this doesn't mean he's good at it. And certainly does seem to mean, to me at least, that he doesn't actually want to play there.

Should we keep the player who had already been shown to be a bit of a tool by talking up the team's finals appearances before they'd actually made the finals while throwing his coach under the bus, and has played 'a bit' of hooker, or the player that shared the hooker role most of the season to a standard most objective observers would say was competent at the worst to good or very good in parts, can also cover both halves spots and played there in a number of the team's wins, doesn't seem to be a dipshit and seems to be genuinely liked by his teammates?

Tough call, really.

further to Gamble (although not sure why he is being discussed in this thread since he won't be here in 2023) ... but have a look at any of the live game threads for games he played in:

much of it was talking about how he was barely NRL standard. then he would put on the occasional good play, so everyone would quieten down for a few minutes ... then rinse and repeat.

take his aggressiveness and energy out of the mix (which I love) and focus just on skillset and there wouldn't be too many people upset with losing him.

he actually reminds me a bit of Shane Perry, where he;s skillset places him in that no man zone between NRL and QLD cup level

How about staff just suspend people as soon as a personal insult is thrown? There's zero need for it here. We're all fans of the same team, we're all adults or close enough to it (presumably), and as such we should be able to have rational, thoughtful and respectful discussions even about topics we don't agree on - and yet there's probably a sum total of three posters on here who don't just resort to name calling as soon as someone questions their opinion.

Again he might be but it also might be on the back of some impressive pre-season performances.

If he is picked on the back of some poor trials and if Paix and/or Smoothey outshine him, I'll be annoyed as well. That said, if he has a good preseason and earns the jersey, I'm also ok with that.

Croft, Dearden and Milford were clearly all in the elite class.

Croft: Captain Junior Kangaroos, ESL Man of Steel.
Dearden: State of Origin winning halfback, Peter Sterling Medalist.
Milford: highest paid Bronco of all time.

Billy was struggling to get an NRL game but wanted to quit his Tigers contract and come to Brisbane to play 6 under his old man.

Is the issue whether Kevvie planned to pair his son with Adam Reynolds as the first choice 6 by clearing out all the competition? Neither of us know that for certain, but it looks that way.
