I don't get your point. Which part of what I said did you disagree with?

Croft, Dearden and Milford were clearly all in the elite class.

Croft: Captain Junior Kangaroos, ESL Man of Steel.
Dearden: State of Origin winning halfback, Peter Sterling Medalist.
Miford: highest paid Bronco of all time.

Billy was struggling to get an NRL game but wanted to quit his Tigers contract and come to Brisbane to play 6 under his old man.

Is the issue whether Kevvie planned to pair his son with Adam Reynolds as the first choice 6 by clearing out all the competition? Neither of us know that for certain, but it looks that way.
Same reason some people will never make detective, they are completely oblivious to evidence. They tend to not pass police academy and become security guards instead.

Again he might be but it also might be on the back of some impressive pre-season performances.

If he is picked on the back of some poor trials and if Paix and/or Smoothey outshine him, I'll be annoyed as well. That said, if he has a good preseason and earns the jersey, I'm also ok with that.
When you said you'd be happy with his as a "depth utility" did you take into account the entire depth is only three players competing for two positions?

I did but you never know, there might be another signing to come, things happen in the offseason.

Here is the definition of a utility:

"A player who can play in a number of different positions is often referred to as a "utility player", "utility forward", or "utility back".
Gamble filled in as a ball playing back rower. That makes him a utility.

QED

by that definition every single player in the game would be deemed a "utility player"

therefore, term "utility player" just lost any meaning

Yes, indicating that he has trained and played in that position.

ta daaaa…

“While he prefered position is five-eighth, Gamble brings with him a wealth of utility value, able to play across the halves, hooker and in the centres.”

journo forgot to mention lock. other Publicatons also refer to him as a utility.

Able to play 4 positions. He’s a fucking utility. Deal with it.
Technically every player can play anywhere. Doesn’t mean they should

By your own logic, anyone wearing a Broncos jersey can play anywhere so our depth is actually kind of ridiculous. Good work detective

I'll gladly colon irrigate a bucket of STFU if we sign an NRL quality utility who threatens Billy's grip on the the 14. Let's not forget the other two who are competing with him now were both playing QLD Cup at the end of last season. That's the real depth we have.

And as for anything can happen in the trials, last year's standout player was easily Reece Walsh. Kevvie went with Isaako. This year's standouts (I thought) were Ezra and Kobe. Neither were selected round one. Billy was chosen at 6, despite very ordinary in two shithouse team performances.

I don't like being negative but the off season is where we fix what was wrong with the last season. Now is the right time to talk this kind of talk.

Yes, your own definition certainly fits your own argument better. I just don't have the drugs to make it work, sorry.

You could look at this in isolation, note that both happened in April, but you would have to ignore that Kevvie had been fucking Tom around for much longer than that to the point that Thurston had been openly pursuing him and he'd toured the Cowboys facilities in the preseason.
The more plausible explanation is that Dearden's camp organised this independently of Walters. The Cowboys were in the market for new halves after losing Clifford to Newcastle and Dearden who came through their junior academy and lived in Mackay shaped as an ideal replacement. With that deal on the table, Dearden's camp turned to Kev to match or better that deal.

Dearden bombed out in the trials and when he received his opportunity after his camp threatened to walk out if he wasn't selected to play NRL in the first 6 weeks he proceeded to play his worst football. Now you can certainly attach some blame to Kev, but Dearden has to accept some responsibility as well. He received multiple opportunities and bombed every single one. For a club that was moving on from it's worst period, changes had to be made.
There's no reason why Dearden couldn't have combined with Reynolds either. But, the ideal plan was to pair Reynolds with his son. Dearden would have confounded that. Clearing the more elite halves in Croft, Dearden and Milford made room for Billy.
Kev saw Billy as a 9, it was Billy who wanted a shot at 6. That's why when Kev had the opportunity to pair somebody with Reynolds early in the season he opted for Kelly over Billy.

Don't get me started on Kevvie's team selections, you won't an argument out of me there.

Wait, so your argument is that at the point at which they were purportedly discarded for Billy, these three players were elite because:

- Croft: Former junior Kangaroos captain and future ESL Man of Steel, which I guess should have been foreseen - nevermind that that particular title is most often scoffed at here anyway - but let's disregard his form throughout his Broncos career.

- Dearden: Again, the crystal ball should have been out here, or else I missed the part where he debuted for Queensland while he was still a Bronco.

- Milford: Come on, man.

Come on mate you have to realise that we are just ignoring ‘evidence’. **** if that’s evidence you could put me away for a random murder in Venezuela.

The fact that so many players who are at the very least on par with Walters (levi, gamble, Turpin to name some more, and I could be forgetting someone) have been let go while billy stands atop the pile of corpses as “the only realistic available option” sets off no redflags in your opinion? A bloke who to the date of signing had played a grand total of 12 nrl games by the age of 28? It’s called a pattern of behaviour and I know some people are having trouble accepting it, but it is blindingly obviously nepotism.

And before anybody tries to say levi received an offer that was too good to refuse from superleague and actually wanted to stay with us, you’ll have to provide some kind of source this time, otherwise it’s just something you made up.

Levi would be in the running for worst player to ever pull on the jersey. Gamble not only earns much more than Billy he requested a release and Jake Turpin is quite literally the second worst player to pull on a broncos jersey after Levi. So tell me why we would get rid of the minimum waged starting hooker who performed well above expectation with no preseason to prepare in that position and no cap to find an adequate replacement on minimum wage. Like I cannot fathom how good recruitment was the doings of anyone but Kev but when it is his son who gets deservingly resigned for 2 years on 0 extra money, has a good work ethic, great personality and highly liked that than his nepotistic father is the scum of the earth for resigning him when at the exact same time he could never be involved in recruitment and retention.

But I apologise I need to just learn to accept that shit examples is factual and evidence for your shitty agenda.

Breaking news: backup players leave for better opportunity. Welcome to being a Broncos fan, must be your first time here.
