350k over two years imo

That sounds about spot on for what we need him for. Will probably get a call up to cover injury/origin/suspension and put some heat on some positions.

What if he's 14 every game of next season?

He will be. If he’s fit, he will be either 9 or 14. This isn’t a negative post, it’s my confident prediction. I’m not even bothering putting forward my opinion on the matter anymore. Just like we all knew he’d be re-signed.

It’s up to everyone else to decide if they feel that is an issue or not. It’s up to everyone to decide if whatever the contract value is rumoured to be is an issue or not.

Well I haven’t done a team list for a bit, so not factoring in any other roster changes (which no doubt will happen), I’d say we are looking at this as our best 17 at present (note this doesn’t mean that this is what Kevvie will choose):

1. Walsh
2. Oates
3. Farnworth
4. Cobbo
5. Mariner/Pereira
6. Mam
7. Reynolds (c)
8. Haas (sigh)
9. Smoothy
10. Jensen
11. Capewell
12. Robati
13. Carrigan (vc)

14. Paix
15. Flegler
16. Hetherington
17. Piakura

18. Staggs
19. Riki
20. Walters
21. Madden

22. Willison
23. Palasia
24. Te Kura
25. Mozer
26. Pereira/Mariner
27. Niu
28. ??
29. ??
30. ??

I cannot think of who I’m missing and I know some of this will be shot down but these are just my thoughts.

I agree with you on Staggs, but I just don't see how he doesn't start in the centres if we can't move him on, and I can't see us moving him on. You have to hope he regains some from and develops some consistency.

I think Riki has the edge on TC at this stage, and I would start him in the second row to begin the year - but I'd be rotating TC and Piakura through that spot as well, and make it clear to them all that it's there to be won by whoever can become a dominant weapon on that edge.

How long until the first preseason game again?

Definitely still some beg questions in our spine. But damn.. we probably have the best 14-21 in the comp.

Kalolo Saitaua claimed the top Men’s award, being named the Hostplus Cup Player of the Year.

Saitaua had a fantastic 2022 season with the Gulls, scoring 8 tries, breaking countless tackles, and running for over 2000m in 19 games, generally starting from the bench.

He has also earnt a train-and-trial deal with the Brisbane Broncos for their upcoming preseason.

What position does he play?

Big call on Kotoni .
But fair enough . Now the #3 and #4 who plays what side ? Herbert prefers the right ? Selwyn the left ??
